I agree with your sentiment. The thing with Insel though is that they are (were?) apparently a publisher that scooped up failed or dying F2P properties made by other studios and "released" them on Steam as (not cheap) paid Early Access titles. I'm not even sure they actually "developed" any games of their own that are worth talking about. And yeah, they're originally from Germany but relocated their HQ to Malta for tax reasons. By all accounts, their CEO is a blatantly unethical bully prone to tantrums during conference calls and meetings. I feel sorry for the employees though (it's obvious they were pretty much forced/blackmailed to comply with their CEO's atrocious business practices) as it seems unlikely there will be much of a future for this company and I guess that means most, if not all of them will be without a job soon.

So reporting on Reddit is enough now to get any publisher out of Steam?

Well, not directly..

We have investigated these claims, and have identified unacceptable behavior involving multiple Steam accounts controlled by the publisher of this game. The publisher appears to have used multiple Steam accounts to post positive reviews for their own games. This is a clear violation of our review policy and something we take very seriously.

I know, mainly making fun of how some people think social media is any kind of trusted source.

To me it does, they mention Reddit as if it's a credible source for anything. It could say "reported on public toilet walls" and be as worthy of a source to note. But I guess that's just my own sense of humor. :)

Empirical testing and peer reviews confirming the results, but that's quite irrelevant so maybe stop taking it so seriously. Just like I will never take social media crap seriously.

Edit: I also think that people reporting problems with websites to Reddit, Facebook, Twitter or wherever and not to the site itself is wrong approach to customer support.

I don't see how "Empirical testing and peer reviews" is relevant

So we agree and can stop arguing about a silly joke, right?

Yeah, I get what you mean...

But this is how journalism works today (since a couple of years). They all steal from Reddit. Or Twitter.

Sgtools:
Games wins not activated
Guardians of Ember (2018-01-06 14:45:00)

Your account is flagged as having some unactivated Wins or your profile is Private.
This also can happen when Steam is down when you account synchronizes, if that is the case synchronize again.

It's probably just a false positive, and SGtools is pretty good at adding those to exception lists. Try again later today.

Review manipulation is more common than you'd think.
I don't think most of them are as blatant as this case though.
And it doesn't help the CEO is such a C.U. Next Tuesday so I mean it serves him right but the down side is those employees are going to suffer because of it.
Shame.

Sorry for necro

I noticed I've got a copy of Guardians of Ember - Fanatical Edition from a bundle, since this game is removed is there any incentive to make a giveaway for it?

If it still can be activated, for sure. There are quite a lot of "removed games collectors" out there.

Isin't Trinium Wars was shut down like year ago, while Guardians Of Ember was gived away for free sometime ago?
