"You'll need to turn it on before the end of October. The free month will begin on or about November 1 (it might take a few days for the wheels to start turning) as long as you've got 2FA enabled on Origin before the end of October. If you're already an Origin Access Basic subscriber, you won't be billed for November, and if you're an Access Premier subscriber you'll get a free month of that instead. And if you've already got 2FA enabled? Free month for you too."

Pretty great stuff. A Way Out, Anthem, bunch of Need For Speed games, Mirror's Edge Catalyst, Vampyr are just a few of the good titles in there. For people wondering, here are the differences between Access Basic and Premiere:

What you get with EA Origin Basic ($3.99 per month or $24.99 per year)

  • the chance to try out EA’s new games for up to ten hours, starting five days before release, with Play First Trials
  • access to The Vault, a library of games that grows in time.
  • the 10% discount in the Origin Store on full games, pre-orders, expansions, FIFA points

What you get with EA Origin Premiere ($14.99 per month or $99.99 per year)

  • full, unlimited access to EA’s games, starting five days before they release. Play the full game starting five days before launch without purchasing it separately, until you cancel your Premier membership.
  • access to The Vault, a library of games that grows in time.
  • the same 10% discount in the Origin Store on full games, pre-orders, expansions, FIFA points

So, Basic has what matters, which is all the games. Here's the full list.

If Origin Access got activated in your account, you should have the Origin Access banner (grey for Basic, or orange for Premier) under your Origin ID either in origin.com (from a web browser) or in the Origin client.
The "Member for xx days" is how long your subscription been active.

I just contacted support:

I would like to inform you that the subscription you are talking about I understood very well, what I would like to inform you is that it may take time,as you know there are millions of players are there that't why it is taking time.
Moreover you will get this as per your eligibility.

No, they are not handing out your sweet free month at your door via mailman.
They use fax or other modern technology.

Almost the same thing they told me. " I can assure you that you will receive your free month of Origin Access. We are sending the codes out in batches. It may take a few days."

I still remember that I wanted to wake up at Nov. 1. midnight to load Battlefield V.
Now it's one week later and still no Origin Access.

I use email 2fa and nothing. It is now Nov 7. I am seriously wondering if I got overlooked, if the article was wrong (only app people get the free month) or what. I am on the verge of complaining to EA support. I could have potentially gotten a game or two done by now (Nov 7).

This is truly Pathetic of Origin. Uplay had a free month and everyone's free month started by the 2nd of the month. Origin can't get it done after 7 days and is complaining "well, there are just too many people who applied." SERIOUSLY? I suspect this is another case of management rushing a promotion before the devs were ready, in hopes of getting money over Black Friday sales.

Ubisoft impressed me with some games. Origin has hurt their own rep via their handling of this fiasco.

I wonder if it is the fact that they have no payment method for my account?

It is not like the free Uplay+ month, this one is actually a full month (30 days) so let's say you get it November 10th then it will expire December 10th.
The players that did got it did confirm this.
EA rep said they are giving it in batches.

I know EA is full of crap so I'm surprised I'm gonna say this but you know that thanks to FIFA, BF and other EA games there are millions of Origin accounts and probably many use 2FA even long before that promo (I know I am) so that could take a while.

Also keep checking origin.com or Origin client and not just your email, the email confirming the activation could be delayed or something and you might have the free month already activated.. I explained what to look for here: https://www.steamgifts.com/go/comment/XucS2LT

Does the 10 hours of NFS Heat or Anthem have be used before the Origin Access month is over?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yes, but Anthem has been added as a full game last September into Origin Access Basic not just a 10 hrs trial anymore.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

AbdAllahMohamedRefat, you are right you just have to add the full Anthem to your library if you previously added the 10 hour one or else it will still say 10 hours. So to clarify, if I don't use the 10 hours of NFS Heat after the free month and I don't join access, I cannot use the remaining hours right?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

That is right, you can't use what is left of those 10 hrs after Your Origin Access ends.. unless ofc they make the 10 hrs trial available to all and not just Origin Access Basic.

I called support today and they told me that the origin access team was investigating the issue. They likely will send out an email explaining the issue and the 30 day clock starts when we receive it

I wouldn't mind at all, if that free month started so late that I could just have it over Christmas. Then again, I kinda doubt I'll get anything at all. I have 2FA enabled on Origin for a long time, but I've never received any emails from them. So why would they even think of me now?

They could have saved themselves a lot of support requests by sending out such an email earlier.

Haven't received my code yet, but I'm was hoping they'd wait to start the free month until it was closer to when Jedi Order releases anyway since that's the main game I plan to play with the free month.....so I don't mind waiting at all.

That's on Premier subscription only. The free month is for Basic access. I believe you can try it for 10 hours though.

Comment has been collapsed.

Honestly, 10 hours will work. If I like it still after ten hours, I'll definitely buy it anyway.
Outside of that and maybe Unravel 2, there isn't really anything else they have that I don't own AND want to play, so it will be a limited use one month freebie anyway, but one where I can at least look at one game for a bit and play through the other. :)

I have read somewhere that there will be no free trial for that game, I dunno why, they are afraid of spoilers or may be finishing the game during the 10 hours mark.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

The spoiler reason was why there is no early access for this game, no 10 hrs trial probably as you said 10 hrs will probably be the average for this single player story.

Bummer. Ah well. Not gonna be upset about the specific games available on this freebie. Still got Unravel 2. :)

Make sure to check your subscription status once a day or every few days. Some have reported that they got the free month without any confirmation email (one even had it for 11 days without knowing, that must have been bitter).
