As you can see, I have made a non-CV giveaway for RPG Maker VX Ace that will end in late November-- it is available only to members of this group which is currently empty.

How will we fill this group?

As the title alludes, any wishing to join should propose a videogame of their own! Specifically, a design that can be created with the prize at hand, RPG Maker VX Ace. Your proposal may take any shape you wish and can be any length, but it must be posted here in this thread. Any idea deemed worthy will receive a group invite.

Acceptance is completely at my discretion and current state of intoxication. I'll be looking for legibility, well-defined goals, and some sense of how you will implement your grand ideas. I reserve the right to be picky-as-a-mofo, because I intend to keep the overall number of entries relatively low. This is a free opportunity to bounce some creative ideas off of your digital peers, and we will all get to observe the progress and product of our winner.

I'll be dropping some small, private GA links along the way for giggles. I hope you find the event intriguing and entertaining, good luck! ^__^

For the third time in this thread (just copy/pasting my words from the last page):

"I have addressed this earlier, but this is a pretty pathetic excuse to not post an idea. As I said, to think that someone has enough work ethic to make an entire game but not the creativity to come up with a quick outline (that most here did on the spot) is pretty ridiculous. Not to mention that there are about four gazillion better places on the net to "steal ideas." The entire idea of this event is to drop our excuses and finally make something we've dreamed about.

My advice for you, and this goes above and beyond this event, is to stop making petty excuses to yourself not to take a risk and create something. Real artists aren't "stealing ideas" on a video game forum, they're out creating."

Well, since I'm painting and drawing a lot in my free time, I think that I create something quite often. I'm just not into game creating myself.

There are also thousands of programmers that are reinventing the wheel constantly. A completely new idea is pretty hard, but ideas that are a mix of many other are being merged everyhour. For example, I had thought my idea of an endless dungeon (actually a size scroller in my case) where death just brings you back to the beginning somewhat unique. But Rogue Legacy took it up a notch and added "handicaps". Mine was just a single idea of an endless purgatory fighting demons. But each death carried over some stats (the demons also got some carry over but theirs was less) and you had to choose classes/subclasses/jobs (to encourage different playthroughs for a balanced stat build). And of course there would be witty taunts on each death.

I have been thinking of making a game that is based on computer viruses and anti virus programs. All lands or areas would be different system folders or drives. I would also like an invasion system like Dark Souls were other players could try to infect your world. There are a ton of possibilities for puzzles based in binary, base64, and ciphers. And classes could be made rather interesting. At least that's my opinion.

I am a avid Table top gamer as well as PC gamer (kinda rare for a chick maybe but I love it). Ive been table topping for more than a dozen years. For the past 2 years I have recorded our table top game sessions at D&D, Cortex, Don't rest your head and more! The story lines are amazing in most of them (I do weed out the unneeded stuff). I am a Art major (what an almost useless degree right?) and have been working on character sketches, concept art and story boards for our games (almost turning into a comic book). I would LOVE to take these adventures and put them into a PC game! Multiple arcs in the story line, mini-games, character development, great battles and awesome detail. With RPG Maker VX Ace I could take one (at least to start) of the stories, the art I already have going for it, and make one amazing RPG!

I intend to create a game based on the current age with classic touches, such as the games of today with the old in just one, which would be very good for people who liked and played on their SNES, for example.

The game would be based on an RPG style Diablo and Zelda, with an engaging story and charismatic actors and a "romance" to further enliven the history of the game. The Protagonist named Sonny would aim to establish peace and end the war initiated by the two countries. On her journey, Sonny will meet Anna, a girl in which will be the great friend of his, the two began a journey of adventure, and well, the rest of the story is a suspense =)

The scenario would be current with dynamic and many colors, all the best for a great game, I have many ideas. Ooh, and the name of the game is "Lucky Adventures"

Thanks for reading =D

As a few other people in this thread have suggested, tabletop games are awesome. I would love to be able to convert something like Necromunda into a PC game, but that's kind of outside the scope of RPG maker I think. But maybe a game like Eclipse or Arkham Horror would translate better into an RPG...

Anyway, it's probably safest to create something from scratch rather than invite potential copyright claims, right? And for the purposes of this thread it's probably better to aim for something that can actually be created in RPG Maker :p
So I'd take the opportunity to do some writing - I've been itching to write some short stories for quite some time now, and an oldschool style RPG would be a pleasnt way to try my hand at some story telling. The plot I've got knocking around in my head right now involves a young girl who develops telekinetic powers, which of course freaks people out and gets her ostracized from her community. The gameplay would be reminiscent of Final Fantasy 7; the telekinetic girl would not be controlled by the player (except perhaps for key plot events), and most of the combat and character development (items / experience / abilities etc) would be focused on the party of characters that the player gradually accumulates in their quest to protect the girl with unusual talents.

I think it would be interesting to combine the mechanics of RPG maker with some of the sub-plots and storylines I have in my head; I'd like to try to integrate meaningful choices with tangible in-game consequences, hopefully giving the game some replay value (or at least making conversations about the game interesting if players are unlikely to end up with the same party or experience the same sub-plots). I'm sure the depth and complexity will be limited by RPG Maker itself and (probably more so) by my own laziness, haha, but it would certainly be fun to try.

Thanks for doing this giveaway!

I'm just here to say that from the looks of it, this engine is only capable of managing only pokemon-type of mechanisms. A lot of the people don't take into calculation that they won't be able to create let's say 3D flying unicorns puking rainbows while stepdancing with this particular engine.
I don't want to be seen as being mean, some ideas are quite good even though are not possible with this engine, just stating the fact

ok Well i have two general Ideas 1st is an open world rpg game in which you play as a character that gets a gem or crystal that gives him/her a power ( telekinesis, the ability to create throwing weapons out of thin air , pyrokinesis, etc) but to a basic amount. They have to hunt for more gem/crystals And/or battle other people that have different powers It progresses to the point where the more gems/crystals/macguffins you have the stronger your powers can be in like a leveling tree system you decide what specific moves you want
now for the moral choice point of it you can forcibly take others peoples powers ( normally results in the person the powers a being taken from to die) but in return your gems/crytals/etc get corrupt and require more to get moves it also affects your control of your abilities over all since more types you have going through your channeling point ( yourself) the harder it is to become manageable of all those abilities, now some people can willingly give you their powers or share them where you get a weaker version but its more manageable (this way is more of the good person way and will result in a long hard road to get a decent reward that has little to no ramifications )

Now my second idea is a possible learning Rpg ( yes I know most people don't like learning in their games) its more puzzle based in a way to find yourself ,in a way of finding yourself in others whom you are around and make bonds with, it also has riddles, some mild combat ( possibly starting a revolution , also who doesn't love combat), multiple player/profile saves that can have the different players interact with them as npcs ( you would have to have them set them up, also points where you don't have to be visible in the world to other saves)

How about a game where you a shop keeper, selling stuff you find in dungeons to the random people who come in to your store. You can decorate your store to make it more appealing to certain types of people. Market trends will impact what you can sell and for how much. Sometimes people will sell you stuff and you can barter a price. Since you are just a shop keeper, you can hire various mercs to help you adventure and gain free items to sell in your store.

You live in a village and a man, an ancient woman and a cat (none of them from the same house) are missing for three days.
You are sure that the other villagers can help you solve the mystery, so you will need to hear what other people from the village have seen and put the evidences together.

You can't go simply talking to them, though, because you are mute.
Unfortunately, although you know how to write/read, the other villagers don't. The only exceptions are (1) your father (who taught you to write), but who is extremely old and cannot leave your home; (2) Your cousin, who dislikes you since you were born and wouldn't help you for anything in the world.
