Another scam on Steam from Steam friends?!

nothing new, you friend was pished and now the criminal want to steal your account too.

A twist on a classic phishing method

Looks like the perfect material for Kitboga.

Just read the last days worth of posts on Steam discussions or Steam community. There will be at least two upset victims per day wanting help. Quite an old scam. Report your friend's profile as being compromised and then do not communicate with them further. Maybe even block your friend until he gets control of his account.

Hopefully the real owner of that account manages to get it back from the scammer.

The fact he supposedly relaying a message to you about your account and was trying to rush you to make a decision in 5 minutes makes it a big red flag.

not even a free game. nobody is gonna fall for that one!

Heh, so he supposedly reported you by accident and then tried to explain it was a mistake but somehow you'd still have to be the one to explain for his mistake? Makes total sense. :P

I don't know what it is this week but I received 4 different low level friends request from account that didn't look legit.
