if valve support was responding I'd call for a emailcampaign asking them to chip in their cut too. Sadly I just don't think it'll do any good.

I always want charity money to be 100% received by organization.
If they use other platform that support charity, maybe it can be 100%.
Just like the one that used in humble bundle, groupees, etc..

A year ago, NotGTAV did charity for every penny they got.
They said "100% profit they got", that means the 70% they got from steam.

I have apps, one of the feature means to raise charity for animals shelter.
It's an android apps so i use google play.
Even it's charity, they still take 30%, so i use other method to make the money 100% donated.
Similar with valve, every digital content we sell, they cut it 30% whatever it is :(

You can use itch.io an indie-friendly plateform.
A more or less community-driven marketplace where dev can choose how much they pay itchio ! (by default 10% but you can set it from 0 to 100% !)
So it can fairly be used for charity I think, and it has already be used for that by selling digital content (games or game assets)

Another way to look at it is that it being on Steam probably got it alot more sales than you'd get anywhere else? Just a thought. The 30% cut still doesn't seem fair though.

Yeah I think they need to create a process for charity specific DLC or games that not only redirect cuts they'd usually get to the charity but it'd also help ensure the charity is legit too I guess.

In 2015, 11 Bit Studios released their War Child DLC to raise funds for this charity. The support gained from this campaign raised enough funds to provide support for 350 children.
