Audio/Video Converter: FormatFactory;
CD/DVD Burning Tool: CDBurnerXP.

For the video converter, Handbrake is more functional (so much that I don't use FF anymore, only for the rare times that Handbrake can't convert something as a result of overcomplicated subs) although doesn't beat FormatFactory's ease of use.

Define freeware. Do you mean freeware for personal use, freeware for personal and educational use or freeware for personal, educational and commercial use? Let's not go further with licences. I assume by freeware you you also mean open source software :-)

Why not? What's wrong with AVG?

Its not a bad AV but its definitions are terrible.
Its way to protective to the point where it restricts the user. (I've had so many false positives that required me to jump through hoops just to run programs, most of which are legitimate crypted,packed or obfuscated binaries)

Audio player: AIMP. Similar to the good old WinAmp 2, with added features (but not bloatware as the newer WinAmp) and awesome sound quality. For me the best feature is the tabbed playlist window.

In my humble opinion all registry cleaners, OS tweakers, configurator tools et cetera are completely useless and most possibly even malicious. And whatever you do, never install any codec packs. Other than that I would recommend Unlocker.
