I have it on my wish list though I never beat the first one. I bought the original based on the hype surrounding it. I thought was fun, but couldn't see myself putting in the ridiculous amount of hours some people have. What put me off were the controls. They were uncomfortable to use and lack of rebindable controls support put me off. It seemed like a game better suited for a controller, but it didn't support them natively and I didn't have one at the time anyway. I made a few runs, made it to mom a couple of times but never defeated her.

Rebirth has built in controller support! I couldn't get into the first one for the same reason. Now I use dual analog sticks to play and 600 hours later....

Even though I get my ass kicked on the regular in games like that, I'm gonna take you up on your offer ;>. Hearing that they now have native controller support sounds good, since games like this are more prone to being played with one anyway.

I wasn't good at the original, but controller support changed that since I'm more comfortable with one. It does take time though! You have to keep playing to learn enemy patterns and learn the items, but eventually you get to a point where you can win 90% of your runs.

Yeah, it's mostly me not paying attention, and always doing minor things wrong, that inevitably lead to me getting killed ;D. Don't get me wrong though, I still like games like this to death (bad pun, I know) ;>.
