Pretty self-explanatory if you ask me.

I always figured people would put a lot of thought into the decision of what their Avatar is going to look like, now i'm getting the impression that i might have been wrong about that.

Why do i care? I have a problem remembering people. Online, i don't have the luxury of seeing their faces or hearing how they talk, so seeing a picture to identify them really helps a lot. Whenever i see someone changing their Nickname and/or Avatar, i need to get used to that change.
That might be a very special case, others might not have problems with remembering hundreds of people, but the question still remains.

Your Avatar says a lot about yourself, people get used to it, they identify you by seeing your Avatar, why would you change it regularly? I don't understand :(

So yeah, how often do you change your avatar?
And are there other reasons for it than "I didn't like the old one anymore"?

I changed my Avatar on all platforms 4-5 months ago, before that, i had the same avatar for around a year.

Sounds about right.

Usually more to do with one no longer really being relevant, or me just getting sick of it. Actually just re-made a super generic one a few days ago.

I change all my avatar to every known site I'm using when I want to

I change avatars when I found a new hobby example:

My current avatar is placed because I was watching animes. But I may change it soon since I don't watch animes frequently now

I prefer to use my own paintings as avatars, so not often, I guess =P
EDIT: to be more precise, my "not often" is about 6 months.

^ This. Although I don't paint, I do draw my own avatars. I've been thinking about drawing a new one, but I'm currently out of inspiration and time :(

Your Avatar is really lovely by the way ^_^ And I bet, every next one will be even better (it's how drawing usually works) Find some time and inspiration will follow =)

Aww, thanks a lot, I like your avatar as well :). You have a more realistic style, while I prefer anime-ish style. I've drawn my current avatar something like a year ago, so it's definitely already time to change it. I bet my new avatar (whenever I get the time to draw it) will be even better, since I've gotten better at drawing over this past year (at least that's what I like to believe) :D

And, yeah, never changed mine. I have a reserve avatar just in case... but I'm not sure what that "case" would even be. ^_^
