Would this be a good idea?
I used to think a separate wishlist from Steam would be useful here, however after a while I thought that if a game isn't worthy enough to add to my wishlist on Steam, why would I bother extra? If the game looks interesting and I want to play it, I just add it to my wishlist. If it doesn't look interesting, I hide it and go on my way. A won game I'm not gonna play is a wasted game, someone really wants it might play it.
There are some titles that I saw here and found interesting, later I added them to my wishlist as well. So one list is enough for me. :)

Yeah I get that, but I wouldn't consider games on my wishlist that I desire with something like "yeah this looks interesting, better keep an eye for this game on SG" kind of thing. I mean we have the ignore list, so that helps to remove what you don't want to see, but what about the other way around?

I admit that there are a couple of games I enter here which I don't have them on my wishlist but either they are not on sale on Steam anymore or the game is not available in my country but it can be activated via a key. They're really few and I already ignored a lot of games so I don't see more than 3 pages even on busy seasons. So they are not worth a list.
Also, you can always follow games on Steam without adding to your wishlist.

They don't affect anything on SG, however they show up in your activity feed on Steam.
You can reach the list here: http://steamcommunity.com/my/followedgames/
I mostly use this for early access games until their actual release, but it's useful nonetheless.

The reason we have the in-site ignore (AKA hidden) list is because, unlike the wishlist, (unless things have changed) there's no way to sync ignore list information through the Steam user-end API, nevermind the developer/community site-end API that sites like SG utilize.
What's rather baffling is, it IS possible to manually sync your ignore lists, a feature utilized by other community sites, yet cg has thus far not paid mind to the previously frequent requests to implement similar here on SG. Of course, even if that was implemented, you'd still benefit from manual ignore list additions here on SG, given the annoyance of having to go through a somewhat convoluted process each time you want to sync to your Steam ignore list.
Conversely, wishlist syncing works just fine, making any addition here on SG rather redundant. All the moreso, given that- unlike the ignore list- any localized flagging functionality can reasonably be handled by user scripts, meaning you can always handle specialized "watch" flagging through that, without having to add an additional burden to site resources.
So, ultimately, comparisons between the two lists just don't work, due to how differently they're handled, as well as the fact that the addition of an on-site watchlist would, fundamentally, actually be adding a third list type, rather than corresponding to the existing wishlist; Conversely, the hidden list would largely benefit from being able to have some sort of syncing functionality to the Steam ignore list, which wouldn't meaningfully affect site load, and theoretically wouldn't meaningfully add to database elements.
( Note, my point here isn't to argue against the addition of a watchlist (even though I am actually not seeing a benefit to such at present), but just to point out that the comparison to the ignore list is not only unworkable, but also disfavorable, as it actually'd support the ignore list getting development attention rather than the wishlist or a watchlist getting such, as it's actually in a much less supportable state. )

It's a thing I've been interesting for a long while - my wishlist never really was an OMFG I WISH I WOULD OWN THIS GAME POASLDOIBSEOIUGVFSBELGS
It was a "list of games I'm interested in, and I don't want to forget about them" list. I have free games, and <$5 games on my wishlist that goes on sale for a buck, but at this point my wishlist is the future-extension of my backlog lol
It's even more different for Steamgifts, because it mixes the "I got it for free" aspect of the site, and the attitude some follows: "I got this as a gift, I have to respect that" - be it playing it in a timeframe, only entering for 100% fitting and interesting game (I'm not even sure that exists for me), or just giving it a decent chance, be it good or bad, if it was interestingto begin with.
PS: I kind of want a japanese schoolgirl version of Momoa doing the same motions, it would be so incredibly jarring that it would make my week.

Exaactly! I mean I've got already over 756 games on my Steam wishlist. I don't want more. 🤣

Yes pretty much 😅 some of the games on my wishlist I've played, but either on a different platform or games I've well... let's say obtained in different ways without paying for them. I have them there to remind myself to purchase them. But a man can only dream to play them.

I've wanted something similar for a while. I generally try to treat my steam wishlist as a kind of "I would be excited if friends or family surprised me with this game as a present". However there have been times on SG where I wanted to keep an eye out for certain games because "they seemed mildly interesting and I would make an attempt to play them if I won them"

Try ESGST
I have ESGST, but I'm not sure where I can get my hands on such a setting, can you guide me?
Or try out the 700+ games of yours that you never played :)
That's out of topic, but I am if you pay attention to my activity on Steam.
We're both here and many other here for more than just playing their wishlist games or something. I don't always see my wishlist games on here, so I discover new games I may want to play, so marking them makes it easier to see them among the clutter.

On ESGST look for tags. You can tag a game and every other giveaway with the same game get that tag too. After that, you can search by tags. You can set up different tags, so you can create infinite lists
On the other part, it is not that off-topic, because if you concentrate your own games, you don't have to find new games that you can put on your lists :). As you have seen I too have a bunch of unplayed games on my account because I liked the buzz caused by buying or winning games. But I started to play them one after another and promise myself I won't buy another game until I play with them least 3 hours, because somebody else enlighted me, that owning unplayed games is just sad.

I see, I'll have a look for that. Thank you very much!

I understand that what you're saying comes from a positive aspect and you're 100% right about playing the games I own. I am in both stages where I play my purchased games and SG giveaways bit by bit, to balance out my backlog. Although I've got 1000+ games already, I should be doing what you said, yet, having things more organized here helps out.
A lot of the time that I spend with games is because I'm trying to play them 100% Achievements nowadays, so I make slow progressions on clearing my backlog. I seem to want to experience the whole game otherwise I feel my time and investment isn't well spent. Silly I know... 😅
Thank you for your suggestion.

Wow! That's a lot. I'm only playing something till I enjoy it. For me achieving 100% in a game is just funless work thus a waste of my precious free time. But I always try to earn at least 3 achievements, so I can distinguish my plays from the card-farmed games

I'm doing this most recently and I don't understand why this has turned for me into a thing. I dedicate a lot of times with games I like and for me finishing a game 100% achievements is a self-reward I give somehow. I feel somewhat accomplished that I've played the game fully. Don't get me wrong, I don't pursue the achievements throughout the whole game. Rather, if I enjoy the game, I spend the last portion of the game, before I conclude the main story pursuing them.
And if not, I'll do it after finishing the story. Most of it, like 60-70% of the game, I just play normally, but with a wider sense of exploration. I kinda check every nook and cranny of the map. Trying to look for collectables, without actually looking online for a guide. I do take a gimps every now and then to see if I need to pay attention to maybe hidden or hard to get achievements that you can miss in games and I try to pay attention to that.
Once I hit the 100% achievement mark, unless it's online or it's a game that it's too difficult and most of the achievements are difficult to get, I don't pursue it and just move onto the next.

I still miss how the Recommended section used to take into account my preferences/entries (other than the whole sg) while creating the list of giveaways. This way I had a list of my most entered giveaways plus the most interesting titles according to other users.
I guess that was different, but still kind of like what you want.

A couple of years ago, it seems. Here's a comment from cg about it

ESGST can add a mark for your Steam wishlisted games (option 8.2.33 if I'm not wrong).
If you want a highlight - use any adBlocking addon with custom cosmetic filters feature (uBlock, adGuard, etc). Add custom filter like:
steamgifts.com#$#.page__inner-wrap .giveaway__row-outer-wrap:has(.esgst-gc-wishlisted) {background: rgba(90,90,30,.1); border: 1px dashed #dd3 !important; margin: 5px 0 !important}

i recently just thought the same
i too would like to mark or highlight or simply add a game to a new list ("watchlist" maybe?) that is purely on SG.
why dont you just use your wishlist?
i dont want to add every game im mildly interested in to my wishlist. i like to add mostly games that i really really like to have to that list
but doesnt that just mean that you dont really want to play them?
no, for example: i like to play HOGs, but there are many and i dont want to add them all to my wishlist on steam. or any other small or short games that dont seem like much. just because i dont add them to the list, doesnt mean i wont play them. i just dont want to clutter my wishlist too much and rather keep it small.
im sure there is an extension/script for it
im sure there is but that doesnt work on phone. and if it does then it wont sync phone and PC. i would rather want it to be a functionalitly of SG and be independent from any scripts
EDIT
why dont you just hide everything that you dont want?
its actually a lot more time consuming and tedious to look at every game and decide weather you want to hide it or not. especially since there are more games that i would never play than those i would play. i know some ppl do exactly this, but im often not sure yet if i would never like to play a game or not, sometimes i havent tried that genre yet and sometimes i came to play a game even though i didnt originally think i would like it and i was really into it in the end. so i dont wanna close my options.

I think the steam wishlist sync is good enough. No need to maintain two list, though I get why some people might feel the need to have it, specially considering what Mitsukuni said, about unlisted and region restricted games, but personally, I feel that maintaining two list for just that isn't worth the effort.
It's easy enough for me to remember if I see any interesting game and e able to keep an eye out for it without adding it to my steam wishlist, specially since there aren't enough cases were I find something interesting enough to keep an eye out for but not add it to my WL. However, that may not be true for others I guess.
However, since it's an added functionality that doesn't stop you from using the existing one, I wouldn't mind if it ever got implemented.

Hi,
Just wondering if there's a way to actually mark a game as favorite, whitelist or something. Since the hide feature is available, I think having a game highlighted as a potential interest would make it easier to find what you've somewhat been interested and would like to be notice it quicker among the dozen of other games that maybe you're not interested in yet.
I know it would be easier to just hide everything you're not interest in, but that may take a while and I'm just wondering if anyone knows how to just place a marker or something for games of interest, but not in your wishlist or something of a sort.
Looking for feedback and if I've created a separate topic, please link the response to whoever opened this topic before. Thank you and I wish you a wonderful day!
