What if you entered a giveaway, bought the game as the giveaway was ongoing, but won the game too?

Just wondering, since with the steam sales going on, its very possible to accidentally let this happen. Since you cant redeem it, and cant use it for anything else, what are you supposed to do?

Just curious about the protocol.

Not only is it rude, but it's also against the rules. If you won a game than you have to activate it on YOUR account.

It's quite rude to re-gift/trade/give away a game you won on SG and a ban-able offense as well. I've seen quite a few people get banned for this.

I guess you could have bought something and then forgotten to un-enter a giveaway for it... but no, you should definitely not be creating another giveaway to give it away. I think you'd best give it back to the person who gave it to you.

Well, what if the situation was like this. You entered the giveaway, but after that bought the game. Somehow, you win the giveaway too, can you then not take the game? Since it seems pointless to do so as you cant redeem it, and trading it is against the rules.

IS it then possible to let the contributor know, and then let the system choose another random winner?

No, i'm just saying, with the sale going on, i'm afraid that i might enter a few for games i want, but then see theres a sale on it, and get it myself.

So what do i do, i if bought it, and forgot to exit the giveaway, and win it? Theres no way you can redeem it.

In that case, either you or the creator of the giveaway should make a support ticket asking for a reroll of the giveaway.
