Okay, I just felt the need to create a thread to shamelessly promote the first (kinda) proper giveaway I made. It's nothing special and I just wanted to give something back after I've won a couple of games in here.

Good luck!

But there is also a request I have to you, hence the title of this topic. I am always looking for new music to listen to, and as I happen to be a metalhead, I would love to get some inspiration in that direction. I am a really huge fan of unusual instruments and languages other than English, Swedish or German and I love bands that aren't very well-known and still produce amazing music.

Everything is welcomed, even Rick Astley if you feel the urge. (There actually is this sick Astley/Nirvana mashup, check it out here)

So, I guess that was it..
Have a great week and rock on!

I'm listening to a lot of different genres, but metal is not really one of them so I can't help you..
So this doesn't fit your taste but it's norwegian and I love it.. Just like this from Iceland. (yea I got a thing for the north and nordic bands)

As well as a ton of electronic music but again, I used to listen to metal about 10 years ago, since then my taste got more quiet :P

Okay, Tôg really isn't for me, Vök again is pretty nice, will add that to my relax playlist :3

And EDM can also be nice, for me it's mostly Drum and Bass though, but there's loads of potential.

Thanks for the suggestions!

I hate what people call EDM, I listen to good techno, house (not the mainstream stuff) and some d&b too.
Speaking of that, here take some more Drum & Bass

Well, "EDM" did gain a really vide variety of genres in the last years (I mean, come on, there are ISIS Trap mixes...), but I still call most electronic music like that. My favourite D'n'B artists happen to be Pendulum and The Quemists, and I am not even sure if the latter are D'n'B anymore. I am confused by that whole spectrum of genres, but the same counts for other people towards metal subgenres :D

Oh yea I love Pendulum, though I wouldn't go to purely D&B or Dubstep parties anymore because I need more variety, it just gets too boring since most of that stuff sounds similar..
And well Electronic Dance Music could be everything but the term is mainly used by Avicii / Guetta / Mainstream music which just sounds like was produced for 16 year olds to go (illegally) to their first club partys or huge discotheques full of townies :D Not trying to insult anyone here, I'm just surprised with what kind of low quality music some "DJs" become millionaires ^^

I don't have toooooo much metal in my list.

Perhaps Pryapisme might suit you.

The rest of my loud blasting headset stuff is primarily electronic, although perhaps Rain in the Pain might be closer to speedcore over metal.

The rest of my speedcore isn't really metal-influenced, unfortunately!

I have to admit, the second one is kind of nice, but the first one... That video reminds me of the glorious times on pr0gram...

Thanks anyways for opening that genre up to my brain :3

Brb, gonna listen to all of them :D

I know some of them, such as Arkona, Napalm Death (would be a shame if I didn't know these guys as a grindcore lover) and Butterfly Temple, but the rest is mostly new to me.

Thank you so much for taking the effort and making that list for me. Have a kitten! :3

That reply what I was expected :).Well I'm not into metal that much so you will probably know everything I know. And I didn't want to go too much off course. Like this

Here's a folk metal song from my country. The band has been somewhat successful overseas, too.

Where's the "obnoxious Sanic Music" option?

I'm not really a metal fan but I suppose stuff like System of a Down(that's kind of metal, right? Or is it a type of heavy rock?), Iron Maiden, Metallica. That's all I can really list off. I've always been iffy about metal, especially since a lot of it is just loud sounds(like slipknot, I've always thought they were very overrated).

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

System of a Down should be their own genre, because they are still unique xD

Slipknow is pretty overrated these days, but they're good nonetheless. Kinda overplayed.

but why "obnoxious Sanic" when you can have "obviously Satanic"?

I'll add some Polish folk metal here:
Helroth, Cronica, Othalan, Radogost, Runika, Vecordia

...and other stuff I want to mention:
Hunter, Orphaned Land, Aephanemer, Battle Beast (she's fire on stage), Powerwolf, My Riot, Sight to behold, Circles, Diablo Swing Orchestra

...and non-metal bonus Мельница. Maybe you'll find here something worth listening ʕ^ᴥ^ʔ

One of my favorite metal songs right now: Jotun - In Flames

If you like other languages you might enjoy Mägo de Oz (a Spanish folk metal band). Some of their songs:
Fiesta pagana
Molinos de viento
El atrapasueños

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

In Flames used to be so good... Now they're crap imo :(

I like the sound of Mägo de Oz, the only Spanish band I liked until now was Asspera

Thank you :3

Comment has been collapsed.

Yeah I'm not too fond of their more recent stuff... but at least their old songs are still there to be enjoyed :D

Asspera is cool, although their lyrics are a bit too obscene for my taste (not making a judgement here, I'm just very particular about that).
Oh, I just remembered another Spanish group, Tierra Santa! They made a song based on a poem by José de Espronceda which is really cool: La canción del pirata (the pirate's song)

There's a lot of metal music I listen to, but the only group I just would like to recommend to anyone in the world is Ne Obliviscaris.
Here's the most popular song from them.

They do sing in English (they're from Australia), unfortunately for you, but their genre should really matter anyway.
You can call it Progressive Death/Black Metal, but the most important thing is the presence of large violin pieces, constant growl and clean duets and frequent bass solos.

They're pretty unknown outside of Australia (I'm from Italy and here no metal heads know anything about them), but swiftly becoming more and more popular.
At the Cradle of Filth + Ne Obliviscaris concert everyone I spoke with was impressed by Ne Obliviscaris a lot more than Cradle of Filth, so... I'd also say every type of metalhead probably would like them.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Well, I don't actually "mind" English lyrics, I just love to listen to foreign languages and see what these songs are about. Also, Ne Obliviscaris is awesome, the violin play is on point!

Thank you very much for the suggestion! :3

EDIT: Oh, and have an Australien kitteh:

Master's Hammer - they're active again but their first album from 1991 is still the best. (black)
Kult ofenzivy some newer stuff (black)
Silent Stream of Godless Elegy wow haven't listened to this one in a long time. (folk/doom)
!T.O.O.H.! - this is one of my favorites (death/grind)

Some of my faves...

Nightscape - Haunted Hill
Stratovarius - Eagleheart
Dragonforce - Through the Fire and Flames
Fear Factory - Hunter Killer

Actually, the entire Demanufacture album from FF is great.

And, of course, Disturbed - The Game

This one's a little out of character for me, but liking Fear Factory, I followed Dino Cazares here when FF was having its kerfuffle. I don't like growling vocals as a rule, but the chorus saves this one, IMO: Savior Self - Divine Heresy

Well, in my country they wouldn't dare to play anything like that on public radio stations, except for Nirvana, Puddle of Mudd or Maetallica, but that's a really rare case.

not really recognized as an official heavy metal band, due to the 3 woman creating it for a younger public (kindergarten to teenagers) but heavy metal non the less ,,, Baby Metal (japanese pop group) ....

also a big fan of "Sabaton", they make heavy metal / power metal with lyrics about any war (also made theme music, for saving private ryan)

since i have no idea how to create a link in chat, its up to you if you can find a good song or not,,,, :P

Yeah, Baby Metal has been mentioned above, and I just can't get along with it.
