Amnesia is an awesome game series!. I was going to recommend Amnesia or Penumbra until I saw that he played the games by Frictional Games (which is both series).

The old CoC PC games Alone in the Dark (the first one) and Shadow of the Comet aren't so scary, but are very good.

Admittedly, I thought the first L4D was scary when it first came out. . .

Don't watch videos first or read the story, it kills the fun. Also a lot of releases (free game!) are filled with viruses, so be wary.

Not really scary, played through Bioshock 1 yesterday.
