Hi all!
As the title says, i'm looking for a good RTS war game.

i don't really care about multiplayer, what it's important for me is the Isometric view and good signle-player campaign/skirmish. I don't mind some recalls of RPG elements (units lvl-up and so on..). It doesn't need to be a traditional RTS, also a Tactics game would be appreciated!

I played games like Commandos, Rise of Nations and i really enjoyed them..

What about the various Wargame or Men of War ?

Thanks to all :)

Grey Goo

played it for awhile during free weekend and love it. Feels like c&c, starcraft. It has a single player campaign too

you only need US 'shipping' address, but i dont know what happens if you use a CC from another continent (or just get a friend to buy for you)

check.... what was that other store before gmg got popular... gamersgate?

That's not true for Origin games, sadly. You need to link your Amazon account to your Origin account these days, and if both are not "US based", then you can't buy Origin games on Amazon.

I tried to buy the C&C collection a while ago, and it forced me to log in with my Origin account to finish the transaction.

+1 to Starcraft 2, but after you finish the campaign then (if you don't want to play multiplayer) there's not so much to do.

Age of Empires or Rise of Nations.
Also, Age of Mythology is pretty nice if you like fantasy elements.
EDIT: I see you've already played Rise of Nations.

I love the Men of War series. Do keep in mind that it's a bit fiddly and it aims for a degree of detail & realism that you usually don't see in RTSs, so trying to rush over an open field will result in dead soldier and little else. Personally I prefer it to Company of Heroes (though CoH is also good)
The Men of War: Assault Squad series feels like it's mainly made for MP. The other games are better in SP.

Also Warzone 2100 is an outstanding game. It's free, and great!

I just started playing company of heroes 2 and it is great, compared to command and conquer it is less base building and more fighting and tactics. Age of empires 2 and 3 and the total war games are also pretty good! and if you dont care about money i would try act of aggression but i havent played that one myself.

World in Conflict Complete (has the expansion included), Desperados series, Robin Hood, Codename Panzers series, Rush for Berlin/Rush for the Bomb, Act of War/Act of Aggression series (the Act of War games are better in the SP Campaign), Faces of War (precursor to the Men of War series), Soldiers: Heroes of World War II, Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends (provided that you can find a copy for sale anywhere, the official patches are available on the interwebz, courtesy of the die-hard fans), Warlords Battlecry series. I could add more, but i'm getting lazy typing:)

Well i suggest for starcraft 1 and 2, it a really fun RTS imo....
I also suggest for Lord of the Ring battle for middle earth 2 and it expansion, rise of the witch king ( tho i doubt u will get to play it as it discontinued for quite awhile and only on physical release)

World in Conflict is definately worth a look.

Verious Wargame titles are great too, but i feel they are a little more MP centric and generally need more practice than WiC.

I only play historical wargames and here are my recommendation:
Good multiplayer and singleplayer, but a lot of DLCs: http://store.steampowered.com/app/231430/
Still in development, but looking good: http://store.steampowered.com/app/244450/
Something a BIT different: http://store.steampowered.com/app/294860/?snr=1_7_7_151_150_2
World War 1 : http://store.steampowered.com/app/316430/
Nothing like the original, but hopefully they will expand and improve it as is is still in EA: http://store.steampowered.com/app/235380/
Great stuff, but a bit hardcore: http://store.steampowered.com/app/275290/
American civil war game. From a legendary Total War modder Darth Vader: http://store.steampowered.com/app/306660/

Command & Conquer if you want dumb fun.
Blizzard games if you want a good story and don't mind the computer cheating in every conceivable way to balance bad game design.
Age of Empires 1-2 if you are patient enough to spend 2-10 hours on a single map. Age of mythology, if you like the concept and would like to play a story-oriented campaign.
Total Annihilation if you don' care about any form of story just probably the best RTS design ever made. Supreme Commander, if you want a lightweight, modern version of it.
Cossacks, if you want large-scale battles without the turn-based grand strategy part of the Total War franchise.
Speaking of which: Total Wars, if you want a good grand strategy.
Ground Control if you want a real hardcore tactical game with no base building, resource gathering, just pure battlefield skills. World in Conflict, if you want a somewhat more traditional (resources and callable reinforcements) version of it.

For tactical games, XCOM: Ufo Defense, Xenonauts (the modern hardcore XCOM remake), XCOM: Enemy Unknown (the modern casual XCOM remake), Fallout Tactics.
