Quite honestly, I'd love to be able to travel anywhere, period, as I never seem to have the chance to do so. Last time I went anywhere remotely outside my state was an 8th grade field trip to Washington DC for a whole week

I'd love to go to Japan - especially due to the animal islands and temples. And also for the weeb stuff although I feel like I'm slowly getting too old for this.
My main issue is that I'm kind of afraid of the language barrier. I can't even read a single kanji and I heard it's recommend to be able to speak japanese if you don't focus on the main tourist route 'cause I'd actually like to see the countryside as well if I'd go there.

Don't let the language dissuade you from going. Everything is well signposted in English, so rarely did I get lost just because I couldn't read.
Not everyone can grasp a language quickly, and I've heard it takes a few years to really learn Japanese properly.

I've had a love for Japan for a long time. Even started learning basic Japanese phrases a few years ago. Would really love to visit the country when I have the financial ability to do so. Now that you mentioned Japan, my country's rugby team just won the world cup there a few days ago. Japan hosted an awesome tournament and they were very welcoming. Seems like such a good nation.
