So, I thought I'd do this giveaway. It's been a while since I did a nice invite-only giveaway.

If you've been to Japan, feel free to share with us your favourite places or things you did while you were there :)
If you haven't and wish to, feel free to share with us why you want to visit it.

Here's a random photo dump of my trip to Japan in 2016 jump on the catbus
Oh, here's what you were looking for.
My apologies to the Japanese SG members here, I made an assumption in thinking this game had a region restriction on it.
So, as a matter of recourse, I am doing a SECOND GIVEAWAY here for everyone!

Have you ever been to Japan?

Yes, and I loved it
Yes, but it's over-rated
No, but I'd love to
No, and I have no interest in going
I'm only doing this poll to skew the results

Never been to Japan but it's a dream of mine and sure I would do it if I could. Japan is so fascinating on all imaginable levels. I would also like to visit Australia and the States. Here over in Europe you have endless possibilities for road trips, and I would so much love to travel through the States by car, even though I imagine it to be quite dangerous. Would never do it alone, I'm not the person who enjoys travelling on my own. Only with my girlfriend or a good friend of mine.
New Zealand is also a very beautiful place to visit.

Maya, will you show us some pics, please?

I like Japan, but I'm not really fond of travelling. If I'd ever go there I think I'd drop by Hamamatsu, I talked to a native japanese that lived there and said most of the population in this city is brazilian, so I guess I'd feel bit at home. lol

I always wondered what meant Xanadu, it seems it was the capital of Kublai Khan's Yuan dynasty in China, but I don't see how it fits in medias such as books and games

BTW, thanks for the gibs and I'm waiting for the pics :3

Xanadu...?

Looking at the release year of the first game in this game series, it was 1985.😲
γ‚ΆγƒŠγƒ‰γ‚₯ (γ‚²γƒΌγƒ ) - Wikipedia

Unfortunately, I couldn't find the English description well.
However, there was a Japanese Wikipedia item.

I can read katakana, but unsurprisingly that doesn't help much. But if what I read from here is right, I presume they just thought of "Xanadu" as a catchy name.

It was nice to have an English article. (*p'Θ'q)
Origin of the name ... I feel like I saw an article somewhere.
But I can't remember. At that time, I will add it. :p

I've never been to Asia, but Japan is definitely somewhere I'd like to visit at some point. It's a very beautiful country and the culture is kinda fascinating. It's nice to experience new places even if just one time.

GA looks awesome. I love JRPGs. Won't be entering though because I'm not on Windows. ^^

I'd love to see the Cherry blossoms in bloom and then check out some of the "real" Japan and its culture. And all the touristy stuff too :P

I've been there twice. Akihabara and Shinjuku station are the must-see attractions since I love animation and city hunter ;)
But the station was not like as on the comic anymore, no more MyCity logo...
(by the way, I'm blocklisted as well...)

Also nice collection in the end. Evangelion, Black lagoon and K-on β™₯ I'm going to Japan in March or April to see cherry blossoms and to be a total weaboo. Going to buy a Akiyama Mio figure too cause waifu~

Is traveling there expensive? Food and drink expenses? How much cash would you recommend to have with for 2 weeks?

It really depends on how much travelling you plan on doing, and what activities you want to do while there.
I can give you some basic indication, based on my overall average spend while I was there.
I'd allow maybe US$100 a day (all expenses included, like accommodation, food and a bit of travel), and then any extra activity costs on top of that. I would allow at least $1500 the whole time you're there. You may end up spending less than though.
If you're mainly around the greater Tokyo area, then get a Suica card - it's a prepay swipe card you can use on the normal trains - it's much easier than paying for each of your tickets individually.

Well accomodation is covered by a company along with what I assume is breakfast or lunch, other stuff will still be my expense.

I plan on going to Kyoto, Osaka and then Tokyo for the final week. As far as I have seen using a plane to go from Osaka to Tokyo is cheapest compared to bullet trains. I plan on going to parks, castles, temples, monuments and of course museums among the usual things. Other things would include arcades, anime shops etc.

Oh yeah, how is it about mobile phone? Wifi easy to find or is there a cheap way to get mobile internet?

Never been to Japan, but want to visit it for some time. My relatives from south korea often tell me of their visits in Japan and the huge differences between them. Want to find out for myself ;)
Thanks for the giveaways, Maya! Have a good one!

I'm Guy Fieri and we're rolling out looking for America's greatest diners, drive-ins and dives.

Seems like a cool place as it seems like there's so much going on in the bigger cities, I don't think anywhere in the UK would compare - would like to go on the bullet trains as well as trains don't go that fast here. Would like to see some of the weeb stuff even if I'm not really into it - it would be novel :D.

I haven't been there, but I've seen others there and it seems like it would be fun. I like the whole dense city environment thing, and it would be fun to try new types of food there.

Also, I saw (this) in your photo dump. May I ask exactly what it is?

Okonomiyaki

Basically a really yummy pancake filled with all sorts of goodness and noodles, topped with brown sauce and mayo.

I'd love to visit, especially now I've seen that seriously good looking rainbow ice-cream!

[p.s. Blacklisted? Get over it.]

Ok, I'm over it. Unless being curious as to why means I'm not :)

Is that Tottori Sakyu?
I'm guessing that's the Tokyo One Piece Tower? I wasn't expecting to see a Luffy mousepad, lol.
What's the ambient temperature like when you had that ice-cream? How fast do you have to finish it before it starts melting and dripping?

Yep, correct on both counts.
That particular ice cream I was eating inside, so it wasn't too bad, but the ones I bought when I was outside I'd have to eat in a few minutes. At one stage, while I was in Nara, it was hitting about 39Β°C
