Apparently Steins;Gate is pretty critically acclaimed. Haven't watched it myself, but I noticed it on Amazon and am currently considering a blind buy.

Kara no Kyoukai
It may seem very strange at the beginning, but it's because of the structure features (movies don't go in chronological order)

I would recommend a few based on what you mentioned in the OP, but I'll also throw in some "dark and bloody" titles. Some of them have already been listed, so consider my second mention a "thumbs up."
**P.S. (Many of these are on Netflix, or have been in the past.)

I thought about mentioning that one, but I haven't seen it, yet, so I don't know if it fits the OP. P

If you would like a documentary about my schooldays, watch Girls Und Panzer.

Just finished Brynhildr into the Darkness, it was decent. The same guy's other story, Elfen Lied is probably even better. Make sure to get uncensored versions if you want to watch either with the gore in tact.

Hunter x Hunter 2011, really good, took me a few weeks to watch though (about 150 eps). Lots of action, I highly recommend it.

Drama: House of Five Leaves, or Honey and Clover.
Comedy: Welcome to NHK.
Action/Comedy: Samurai Champloo. And, of course Trigun.
But, since you're looking for something with a little darker tone, I'd say check out House of Five Leaves first.
Edit: Or, if you want something that's a little cheesy, a little older, but definitely worth a watch and easy to find with an English dub, check out Tekkaman and Ronin Warriors.

Bloody doesn't describe it right when a teacher stabs himself in the throat in front of the class.

Check out Fist Of The North Star series or The Violence Jack episodes.

I don't know the ones you mentioned but you can try Monster, it's fairly long to "binge on".

Also I +1 for Death Note, it is awesome if you like dark themed anime.

I'm looking for a series in the same vein as Fate/Zero, Darker Than Black, and Psycho-Pass. I would prefer English dubbed but that's not a necessity.
Thanks in advance to anybody who answers!
