Giro d'Italia

I wasn't gonna do a Giro event but since a few people asked me if I was going to make one I couldn't resist. Fortunately thanks to the power of automation (and having made the 2016 Tour de France event) it doesn take that long to create an event like this. It probably took me just over an hour (excluding writing this). And I was watching (well, mostly listening) Ajax win 4-1 against Olympique Lyonnais. :D

How it works

Predict who is going to win each stage of the Giro. Anyone with at least one correct predicition will be eligible to enter the (50+ games) winners' event that I will organise at the end of the cycling season.

Leave your prediction for each stage on the giveaway for that stage. Below you can see a table with all of them but you can just go the first one and use the next stage link on there to go through all of them.

Preview

This event is a little more limited than the Tour event though; no Tour Touristique and the preview is just a direct copy/paste from the offical site, so no speculations about the individual stage winners (by me, that is, feel free to add your own).

Favorites
I can't help but do a quick listing of a few riders for the general qualification victory. :)
Keep in mind only predictions for stage winners qualify for the winners' event but feel free to discuss the possible general qualification winners below.

• Nairo Quintana is the big favorite this year and it's hard to argue with that.
• This is the 100th Giro so the Italians would certainly love to have an Italian winner; Vincenzo Nibali would be the man to do it.
• Ok, maybe I did this cause there are some Dutch riders with a chance of succes. :D Steven Kruijswijk was so close to winning last year. And then he had the weird crash going downhill in the pink: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0iKeiSk45P8
• Tom Dumoulin had a great season last year, gaining the pink jersey in the Giro, winning two stages of the Tour de France and if he hadn't crashed in the Tour de France his Olympic silver medal could well have been gold. This year he has set his sights firmly on the Giro and with a individual time trial as the last stage it's going to be exciting till the end.
• Team Sky is bringing two potential winners; Geraint Thomas and Mikel Landa.
• Thibaut Pinot is the man to do it for FDJ.
• Orica-Scott is bringing Adam Yates.
• And for the third Dutch contender; Bauke Mollema has to show Trek-Segafredo just why they bought him.
