Just asking, is there anything beneficial if we buy from HB while in Korea? Curious - cause I'm Korean.

Restrictions that will make keys bought by me not to work at all for me, because I don't even have the option to set location outside the country I am logged in right now, so
"'Previously, Humble Bundle used your connection's current location to assign your currency and order region."
Still working the same, even worst if they give region locked keys only.
"Now, ensuring that your Humble Bundle account is consistently set up for your home location is just a quick trip to your user settings!"
Its limited to only 1 option. The place i'm logged in right now.

What's next? Applying this arbitrary region lock to the already bought keys that should be ROW, retroactively?

Don't give them good ideas. I bet they'd listen, just like Steam would.

I'm seeing that they already "linked" every single purchase I made for ROW keys in the past to my Steam account that has a country lock that is different of the one i'm logged on HB right now and that is the only option avaiable i've got at HB with this new ***** imposition. I feel scammed.. oh my.. let's see.. It seems more like I've been scammed. Big time... or why would they "link" my purchases (made without any linked steam account) to an account that is unlinked from my HB profile but i've linked someday in the past?
I hope to be wrong... ... .... ...

Not at all sure what you mean by "linking", within this context?
Humble hasn't done meaningful account linking for years, after all.
I'm not seeing any changes at all to my redeemed or unredeemed keys, either.

Bundle pages can be "linked", but that's to the Humble account which claims the page, and shouldn't relate to Steam accounts.

Past time: I bought games/bundles. At that time I didn't have a Steam account linked to HB. I've got ROW keys for what I redeemed almost every time unless in some cases that where well discussed in this forums at that given time.

Present time: I go to my purchases page and everything there is shown as "Linked to Zlatenin" with the steam logo at the side, so those PURCHASES that WHEREN'T LINKED to any steam account, are now linked to a Steam account that isn't even linked to my HB account anymore. This is new..

Pretty sure you're required to have a linked Steam account to claim freebies, so keep that in mind.

And, huhm, yeah, I'm seeing the same "Linked to [Steam Account Name]" messages. Not even eniirely sure now that it hasn't always been like that, though. Either way, being that I'm in the US, it's unlikely I'll be able to determine changes if there are any.

Humble has always been adament that they're not the ones setting region locks, but the publishers.
Which is also intuitively how it would be arranged.
I don't imagine publishers would be any more or less inclined to implement region locks given this user-end change.

Retroactive restictions [for bundles which didn't have restrictions associated already] could be considered fraudulent behavior, so that aspect seems doubtful.

When i bought the keys, they were given ROW keys. So I want what i paid for. It's simple. I paid for a red chair, i want a red chair, not a black one, no anything else.

"Retroactive restrictions [for bundles which didn't have restrictions associated already] could be considered fraudulent behavior, so that aspect seems doubtful."
I hope they don't go that way but the signs are concerning.

I don't know if this is happening to everyone's account, but It is happening to my HB account.

I mean, are you sure about that? It'd tell you region restrictions when attempting to generate a gift link.
Not really any way to tell, before then. Again, it shouldn't be something that's happening and, if you do have firm evidence that it is, then may want to take it up with their support team. And hope that they're less dismissive about region issues than in the past. :X

why would you keys outside of your region-lock? sarcasm
but seriously, why would it stop working? if they didn't changed that, region lock keys are based on your IP on steam, so even if Humble gives you only locked keys from now, they should still activate on your account.

the home location list only contains places where you logged in it seems, so... cough whistle VPN whistle

Could this be an inconvenience from buying keys to gift now?
Or at least, I have to make sure now to use the gift option that creates a link, instead of creating keys directly? I just always used the latter because it seemed like the same thing, but more convenient to the receiver.

gift links are still region locked to the country of the buyer (not the one revealing the key)

So what does this change and mean for SG? I must region lock keys only to South Korea for my example?

if you reveal the key OR you gift it to someone and they reveal the key. in both cases the key should have the same region lock.

so nothing changes for SG. if the publisher region locked the game to South Korea (or Asia) it will be locked in both cases, if not, it will be a ROW in both cases.

edit: for instance, if someone gifted to you a RUS-CI region locked game, the key you will reveal will still be RUS-CI locked.

How about humble store (Not bundle key). Did the key region locked to buyer, or to the one who claimed the gift link, or ROW?
