Couldn't find an answer in the FAQ.

I won 6 Crimson Duck today, all well and good. Yay!
https://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/ExPHR/6-crimson-duck-games

But I had already won it before this ga was over.

How do I request a reroll as a winner?
I know how to do it as a ga creator.

The ga creator doesn't look to be online a lot, as far as Steam and SG goes.
So I just posted a "thank you" and requested a reroll in the ga comments.
Key is still good.

Thanks

EDIT: Key is still good, but I did mark it "not received" 2 weeks ago.
Still sitting in my wins... unattended to as of 6/21/17 (notice my OP date).

Most likely the giveaway creator won't bother with reroll(s), so just mark as "not received" after 7 days.

I think you have to wait for GA creator. :)

Wow that sure seems like a reroll party. All you can do is what you did: ask in the comments and wait. Will probably take a while with those 5000 copies and apparently lots of reroll requests...

The gifter needs to request a reroll, so as long as they won't you just have to mark it not received after 7 days.
That's a support answer.

In the first place, you have to ask the creator for reroll. Not just to write "thank you". The creator is not a fortune-teller.

I read it badly. Sorry.

There is a lot of people in your same situation including me, I doubt the creator is going to reroll 5000 people with the possibility of people who didn't win being put in the situation we are in when the re roll goes through.

I did request a reroll in the thread like you, and will mark as not received after 7 days

Yea, that giveaway is kinda problematic... The dev of the games in that pack (who is also the one doing the giveaways from what I can tell) changed all the games to a pack at some point (very recent), so if you owned any of the 6 games in the pack, you own one of the 6 identical packs with the same 6 games in it (it was done this way for a reason, not going into details on it though). However, many people didn't know that and thought they only owned a part of the pack, and Steam didn't indicate people owned it already either (because they didn't own that specific pack, but one of the other 5 packs instead) until they tried to activate it and Steam updated it...

The result is the current situation, where a large chunk of the winners needs rerolls because the devs had given out a lot of their games in the past, so many people owned at least one of the games (and thus all)...

Thanks everyone.

Very helpful. :)

What happened explained and TIL SG doesn't let winners request a reroll. lol

Someone stated they didn't know they owned all these games in the bundle. Dev trickery... ;)
"That's cuz you didn't at first. The devs converted all of their games into a bundle, and each of the 6 games in the bundle still has it's own store page but they all contain the same bundle now under different names... And all old owners received the remaining parts of the bundle for free. It was done in a weird way, so it confused a lot of people, but if you owned any game in this bundle, then you own the bundle even if you didn't know it... I didn't find out either until this giveaway had already ended."

This is one of those times I want to just click "Received" and be done with it.

I just looked into this Crimson Duck pack thing and there's three volumes on Steam, each with the same games (but listed in different orders), and all three of them (with the exact same games) have different prices because right now one is on sale but not the others, and the third is twice the price of the other two. Err... what?

Besides that, the other three games in the packs are listed on Steam as single games. And owning any of those three apparently does not give you the other games (unlike the other three "pack" games, which apparently do give you all the games). Because I have two single-listed games and not the other games.

So someone literally could buy three of the games in the pack individually for $10 and get nothing more. Or one of the packs with everything for $4. Or a different pack with the exact same games for $2. Or yet another pack with the exact same stuff for 50 cents.

I knew that name sounded familiar. Crimson Duck is one of those studios who just buy asset packs and post them as their own games on steam. And according to SteamDB those packs that they have were originally individual games.

Also, notice how the description for their packs only describe a single game, and their promised amount of achievements on the "cover art" does not match the number of achievements the games actually have, with one promising 2000+ achievements, yet has not a single one.

That makes one wonder, are the developers intentionally trying to deceive people, or are they just incompetent?

It's 2000+ for the total bundle, not for each individual game. It says "six crimson games, 2000+ achievements". They are doing something quite shady, but they did include enough achievements in the 6 game pack to meet the 2000+ promise... Not that they are good achievements... They are 2065 worthless achievements, for pressing a button a certain amount of times...

Well, Valve was apparently not happy with what they were doing. I don't know if this is directly related to this move, or something else, but Crimson Duck is gone now.

Permalink

It was probably related, I was in contact with Valve about it because they did it to abuse the new card mechanics so that they could keep farming cards from every one of their releases. By adding a new game to the bundle, they would instantly meet the trading card requirement for actual players and card drops would start right away. They used this to produce a large amount of cards with fake accounts to get more money for themselves and guarantee they could do it with any future releases... Exactly the kind of behavior that resulted in the change to card drops to begin with... Let's hope this is a lesson for devs to not abuse this kind of thing, as punishment is gonna be hard.

The games that haven't changed names yet are also going to be changed to packs soon, so there are 6 identical packs rather than 3... The changes have already been submitted to Steam, it's just a matter of time til it updates the storepage and adds the remaining ones as bundles (people who own one of them did get upgraded to the bundle already though, I only had Torch Cave 1 and now I have all)... It's generally a weird thing how they did it, but it may become common in the future as it earns them a lot of money.

We are all in the same boat. I too have all these games and as I always sync my stuff every time I come onboard at SG I wasn't aware that I already have all of them. I also asked for a reroll. Now will have to wait the 7 days before I can mark it as not received. Damn I hate this when it happens.

I think what you said is impossible because when you win a giveaway you are out of all giveaways for that game.
This update is active for 3 months (max GA period is 2 months) so it is literally impossible unless you enter a GA for that game after winning another one.

I had always assumed GA did this anyways.
I have won multiple games on the same day (unbelievable, right?) but never won the same game more than once.

I was in the same situation, except I marked as received because it seemed to be the right thing to do and left a comment asking for a reroll like several others.

Then I got suspended.

Don't do what I did (marking as received).

EDIT: even worse, doing that flagged my account ;-;

" Please remember, all games you receive need to be activated on your corresponding Steam account to remain in good standing. Users failing to do so will receive a suspension."

Still not clear for this scenario, but this does warn that you need to activate anything you mark recieved. So that is why I never marked it as such.

Sorry for your headache. Open daily support tickets until SG fixes your issue... or you get quality feedback from a human SG staffer.
You got caught in the automation trap(s).

I marked it as such because "well, there's the key" marks as received

You're not the only one who wants a re-roll from the giveaway creator. When the number of keys is this large, many of them don't feel it's worth the bother. ("We've got plenty of keys. Who cares?")

Meanwhile, there's that red icon sitting at the top of your page....

Considering he has like 750 more games not received that would probably get anyone else permabanned for misleading giveaways, I do not think he is bothered by some red number on the top. Especially since it should go well with the permanent 99+ on the messages button.

"Misleading giveaway" refers to when someone makes a giveaway for one game while delivering something else (e.g. a demo version). It has nothing to do with failing to re-roll any keys not claimed by their winners.

As for the red icon, I was referring to akaSM. He probably finds the "pending win" annoying, and it only goes away when you mark the game "received" or "not received."

That user did it at least twice, with Sleengster and Torch Cave, over 1000 keys in total—the majority of his not received marks are from there. He was suspended for a month, but around a week after that one-month suspension was handed out, he was already active and putting up fresh giveaways. Of course you cannot see any evidence of this now publicly, because Ronix removed the mentioned affected giveaway around the time the user came back from suspension.
So either getting a developer tag makes one exempt from certain rules or those rules are actually not enforced when enough keys are dropped on the site to generate traffic.

What kind of private information lets someone go above the rules, still get hundreds of not received gifts plaguing their profile, and negate their suspension without clearing out any if the infractions that led to said suspension? Because the only thing that I can think of is the site owner making an exception from the rules. After all, SteamGifts is a privately-owned site.

we don't actually know what "said suspension" was for. you may be thinking it was "fake giveaways" but i have a feeling it was actually for a small collection of "not activated" marks that we know once corrected the suspension gets lifted.

they only do "fake" when it is deliberate false intentions. the torch cave 1 instead of 2 kinda stuff doesn't get included in "fake".

Comment has been collapsed.

Thing is, it was not just a one-time fluke. At least two giveaways were affected, that and Sleengster 2.
And even if you are right, that "small collection" is still over 750 not received keys to this moment on his profile which were never corrected.

i'm not arguing that it shouldn't apply, just stating that it doesn't typically. in this particular case i'd be inclined to fully agree with you, but then it would be almost the opposite of what you were implying, and it would then be seen as targeting developer status people rather than making an exception for them purely due to sheer amount of copies included instead of the number of created giveaways. (2 mistakes? or 2,000 mistakes?)

I wanted to add here that staff recommends marking giveaways "Not Received" when you request the giveaway creator to reroll, but he/she does not.

However, the giveaway creator refusing to request a reroll is not a suspendable offense. Simply having a lot of "Not Received" marks is not actionable.

In addition, suspensions for misleading giveaways require specific intent. In most cases this involves trying to circumvent a game being removed from the giveaway list or listing under another game to gain more CV. In the fake giveaways case, it's a similar situation.

Nobody is allowed to go "above the rules" except CG, the person who decides what those rules are. If you had actual knowledge of how this site works, you wouldn't be saying any of these things.

As long as you haven't used the second key for the game and the giveaway creator can re-roll with it, you can just savely mark that giveaway as "not received" now.

That "flagged"-message is probably from a SGTools givaway, but the message should be gone after you did the change mentioned above.

Huh, I hadn't noticed you can change from received to not received, thanks for the tip. I wonder if that key's ever going to be rerolled and used.

Permalink

Doubt it. A lot of mass-giveaway creators just want to advertise those games and it would just be additional work for them to ask for all the re-rolls.
Anyhow, it doesn't matter really. You don't have to accept a key. If the creator doesn't want to re-roll, you leave the key untouched, mark the giveaway as not received and move on. :)
