And another nail in the Denuvo coffin...
If their site is experiencing a DDoS, chances are that their validation servers might be under attack as well (or might be soon), thus locking LEGIT OWNERS from playing their LEGALLY BOUGHT games, since they have to be validated every... single... freaking... time... they're launched.
Is this what we really need? I'm fine with anti-piracy systems which actually work (and Denuvo apparently does, even if just for a few months), but NOT if there's even a slight chance they might hinder legit paying customers. And let's not forget about certain devs' behaviours when inquired about it...
I still don't know what to do with that ABZU key I got from Humble Monthly, but I know where it WON'T end up: in my library.
This will probably be the time I finally mark all confirmed Denuvo games as "not interested", even if there're a few which I would like to play.

They only removed Denuvo from 3 titles:
Playdead later removed Denuvo from their game Inside in their later patches. ID Software also removed Denuvo from their 2016 release DOOM via a patch in December later that year. Crytek later removed Denuvo from their VR game The Climb.[15]

There are even games from 2014 still infected: FIFA 15, Lords of the Fallen and Dragon Age: Inquisition. It's not a problem anymore because they were cracked long ago but they are not actively removing the protection after years have passed.

As I recall it tries to phone home every time you start the game and locks you out after a week without validation.

That is not entirely correct.
Once game that uses Denuvo is launched, it generates a ticket that can be used to play in offline mode.
Said ticket will last up to a month+ after it's generated (You can generate such ticket 5 times a day)
However, ticket will be terminated if you will:
If you will avoid doing those things, single ticket may last up to a month+ in offline mode.

I'll defer to you on this, it's been a while since I looked into denuvo. I'm probably remembering some combination of denuvo and an actual drm.

I think I read it in a forum post, not sure where, but I clearly remember that games have to be constantly validated against their servers.
The activation is done through a small process which launches together with the game, and closes once it's done.
Should it fail to contact the server, the game would throw an error and forcefully close... or something like that.

Probably because it doesn't (at least I'm pretty sure it doesn't). From what I gather is that it checks the first time the game is launched and it needs to check occasionally (so you can't go months without being online), but definitly not every time.

That log is very funny. Assuming it's genuine and ignoring the implied security hole and even ignoring the countless identical messages with the same captcha (lol), the content of that log alone is very likely to bring a smile upon anyone's grumpy face.

I was surprised on how easily this file could be traced. I'm quite amazed how this hasn't been discovered sooner.
After the many Denuvo titles being cracked nowadays and now this leak, Denuvo's reputation could be quite damaged.
