I'm getting low on blacklist space, have to go through several hundred people to remove all those forever banned from this site. 6 on the first page alone. :P
Now we have a script to help with this :)

Permabanned people happen to be unbanned. Dont wanna blacklist them again.
Damn near impossible to get that undone though, there is a reason its called Permanent. I can safely remove the people that haven't been back in months after a permaban.
On my experience its happence a lot for a permament ban.
The only time I've know people to get out was when it was for multiple accounts and they were successfully able to prove that they belonged to different people in the same house.
There's a certain "entertaining" user that has been perma'd and unbanned multiple times now.
I've heard a least 6 times, not sure if it's accurate, but that got to be a record....
He actually got permabanned? I thought he only got regular bans.
konrad never got perma'd.
I was trying not to call out, let alone invoke. But I could have sworn he was perma'd for the marriage(sp?) fiasco, let alone seeing the flag only days after completing a trade with him long ago, but I could be wrong.
not perma, but he's an expert when it comes to suspensions. :3
I suppose. I still kinda wish I could remove the positive feedback on my account. That one point just feels... dirty -_-
I have 2 people on my BL who at one time were permanent suspended, but they aren't anymore.
I know about people who got unbanned from permaban, so it's more than possible.
Or a better, easier suggestion - increase the blacklist limit! Make everyone happy! Eat tacos!
That would be damn great. I'm skirting the limit right now, which is why I need to clean some out.
Having a blacklist of nearly 1000 users is an achievement itself :3.
the issue with that is that the sg server can suffer alot if lots of pp max their b/w list
Ah, true. I hadn't taken this point in consideration.
I thought it was unlimited
1000 user cap on both White and Black lists.
1000 is the limit - both for BL and WL. Perhaps for GA filtering too.
GA filter is much larger (10K games? - more than half of what steam has) as currently for me it contains 5261 games
How about you stop blacklisting people? Just an idea...
You have me in BL but I don't have you. Whatever problem you have with me, it's YOU having a problem with me, I'll just go on with my life. Good luck in blacklisting the world.
You are not permabanned, so there is no reason for removal ;-)
Feel free to blacklist me
What for? We're in democracy, you're free to dislike me :)
I'll just go on with my life

comments about being blacklisted
I discovered being blacklisted. I wondered why. I decided I can survive this discovery and tell the thread creator that I have no bad feelings
I don't see the point of you sarcastical answer.
I don't see the point of yours either so I guess we're on par
According to the entries on public mass-GAs I would say that everyday users of SG are around 15-20000 (I may be wrong, it's just a guess). When one starts to have 0,5% of the active comunity in BL and has no more room for adding more, maybe it's time to change whatever criteria one's using or simply stop blacklisting.
I told him that I have no problems with his blacklist and won't BL him for revenge. When someone on a thread has me blacklisted I can wheter BL him in return or decide not to and let him know. Why? Because it might be a mistake, he might give me some explanations or simply he criteria for which he blacklisted me were not updated (CV, ratio or whatever).
Does it sound more clear now? I'm sorry, I'm not native speaking
Same thing for you. You have me in BL but I don't have you. I don't remember you doing anything bad to me and I guess you're no rule-breaker so I decided not to be revengeful.
Anyway I think I've fully answered Joachim's doubts and I hope it's understandable, as my english is not the best
Don't waste your precious time on those people. I've been blacklisted so many times that I simply stopped counting, I'm actually feeling sad for most of them, like for Sooth, who didn't only blacklist me, but also started taking my every response as an attack towards his person, which is both hilarious and really sad at the same time. Let them believe whatever they want to believe :3.
P.S. I have you on my whitelist, even though I don't make many WL giveaways. Instead of getting sad by BL, get happy because of WL :3.
So, guys, you both have to be in my whitelist for sure.
Thank you :3
You are welcome!
I only add few categories of people to my BL, which are: rude guys, winners that don't say thank you, people with really embarassing CV (90 wins, 2 created) and serial rule-breakers (everyone can mistake once). Honestly I have better ways to spend my time than checking other people's accounts.
Anyway I'm pleased to hear that :) I added you some time ago for being positive in the comunity :P
I create whitelisted giveaways for my friends and you can enter any of it from now on.
Thank you tovarish, I apreciate :)
Oh, you added me in return. Many thanks!
I am also on Delta's Blacklist and frankly, its quite nice in here. I wouldn't have it any other way.
However, when I first realized I was blacklisted by him, I was wondering why, but now, I realize he is just a pretentious douche.
When I think of people that move on after BL, I don't think about people that talk about that specific fact on the forum.
If you really didn't care, there would be no comment., I think that would be the point :p
When I discover someone random having me on BL, if I decide to not BL him in return I let him know that because I think it's fair.
I, for instance, would gladly answer to someone asking about he being BL by me. Maybe it would be even solved by talking it out. It's not about whining or pretending to not care, it's about being more friendly despite being different people.
Just don't forget that even if you keep the tone friendly, it can be considered a calling out just as happened with me AND you :D I was suspended for discussing you being on my BL ~8 months ago, for a mistake you corrected since then. I even removed you that time from my BL and I still got a (deserved) suspension. Friendly tone and talking things out still can mean suspension, so in your own and anyone's else sake, do it in private steam chat or on older giveaways as private messages.
Can't get public attention then.
I didn't see any line of the FAQ mentioning that talking about blacklist is "calling out", in fact I've seen lots of threads about it and some were about asking for deletion. Can you explain me how it works? I taught that it was regarding only rule-breakers and scammers, blacklist is more like a neutral argument.
Anyway didn't remember that episode bro, I'm pretty sure I have you on WL since a couple of months so I must have removed that event XD
I didn't mean the asking about blacklisting, but the answer sometimes - for not activating something, multiwin, etc - you're not affected, but if someone actually have unactivated wins and asks around why s/he's blacklisted, it's borderline provocation. I have no problem with people asking me about it - I check my BL every few months and remove people who got the missed game / got rid of multiwins, often just being proactive and asking about it and promising to fix it will get one off the BL. So far I think less than 5 people did it, while the vast majority of my BL consists of rulebreakers who could fix it. :P
That's what I thought, too. I'm not blacklisted by OP, nor do I want to assume anything, but having 1000 people in blacklist takes quite the effort. I have only 3 in mine, and that's one person who won my GA and failed to communicate, and two who bitched at me and blacklisted first over a different opinion in discussion threads. That's why it seems quite surreal thing to me, to have actually 1000 people in it...
Rulebreakers, regifters and especially if you browse the archive after some game was given away for free and your list can fill up quickly too :P Mine's really small anyways like in the 1 hand small
Guess it can. Seems like lots of effort though, I don't even check my winners, I'm like "shut up and take the key". :P
Thats what he said ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
CPAG-IWH6R-IH04N -> Chip
First on is a three
Cool, successfully ninja'd. :D
Well thats nice.
A person that says thanks after ninjaing a key.
Well you live up to the expectations
What! But everyone says thanks... if they're people. Not bots. Bots are errrywhere around us. puts on tinfoil hat
Making a bot saying thanks is easier than making a human doing the same :3.
I know more people who have made humans, than those who have made bots. :P
~10 sec for each giveaway, userscript adds multiwin / unactivated checking for each user's profile. + helps it to keep the site cleaner, and actively encouraged :)
Mine's really small anyways like in the 1 hand small
Mine's really small anyways like in the 1 hand small
chuckles come on, who can resist commenting on that? XD
Hehe, didn't realise it...I fell right into it. Well played ;_;
After a few hundred gives and enough time in the forums, you find a lot of non activates and ref link spammers. :(
Really? I've only seen one ref link in all the time I spend on this forum. I'm sure there were more, but they are not that common I would think.
Most of the time, there aren't any, but then some new scam site pops up and we get three in an hour.
Makes sense. I guess I'm lucky never to see any :p
Yeah exactly. I have like 15 - 20 or so and I have a reason for all of them (none are rulebreaking). I would almost think that OP just blacklists everyone with a different opinion...
Well, he said rulebreakers.... and I know there are many of those. Too many for me to blacklist, just counting on karma to sort it out. And by karma I mean people who report them.
You've been here two months, it's understandable that the OP has built up a bigger list in three years.
By that logic, in 3 years I'll have 54 people blacklisted.
You would have to make the assumption that it is a linear progression.
What are the other options and how do they exactly work in reality?
Oh it's possible that it would be exponential. Depends on the individual. In my own experience it grows differently at different times depending on how you feel -- sometimes shrinking. I only wanted to point out that it isn't a given unless of course you want it to be :3
I'm quite consistent, so not going to fill up the list. Guess it's just a matter of preference, and I don't have to understand other people's trigger-happy blacklisting habits. shrug
Well, for me it actually became less overtime. Back when I first joined the site, I blacklisted more people then now.
That was kind of my point. One can't accurately predict at what rate they will blacklist in 6 months or 36 months time. For all we know Delta started out with just 3 in the first 2 months as well. So wouldn't it make sense not to judge people based on the number of people they have in their blacklist?
Exactly. I don't see a reason to judge someone because of the size of their blacklist, but if I see someone with so many people on it, I do start to wonder how they managed to get so many.
How long has Blacklist feature been in place?
Most likely it's not even linear progression for me. As of now I have fifty five accounts in blacklist over three years in this site.
Though I use blacklist for a totally different purpose, so maybe that's the difference.
I think it came with SG2, but can't remember the time. Either of it's startup, or closely afterwards.
In it's current form yes. Though even before the redesign you could have a blacklist you just had to manually maintain it.
I wasn't implying every user whose been around a while will have a full list but it does make it easier to fill it especially for users as active as Delta.
Except the blacklist feature wasn't around yet three years ago.
Not in its current form but we could still use them.
Yes, it required approval before it could be used and there was no limit to the size. We're talking about the actual feature that was added in SGV2.
Approval consisted of opening a support ticket saying you wanted to use one. The size limitations are understandable now that it's maintained on site and as such is using the servers. The features are exactly the same and the vast majority of users who maintained one before V2 will have transferred it over. I'm positive OP falls into this category.
Bonus points for joining a conversation four months late though
Four months late but obviously still active as shown by the other recent posts. If the OP didn't want any more comments he can just close it.
It only takes one post to bump it back to the top. At least the others were new comments not continuing an old comment chain. OP might not be bothered about new comments but it's not OP that's getting the notifications in this case.
Blacklist me then remove me! You're bound to be left with at least one spot to blacklist someone else.
+1 It would be a nice feature.
Wow you sure have a big black list
A big... black... list.
Once you go black never go back! Unless you are permabaned
But getting smaller. Already dropped out 38 permanently suspended users who last visited several months ago.
Would love that! Went through mine recently and was able to remove nearly 30 people due to permabans.
we want more blacklists! :3
I'd say that would be useful if you have an almost full BL :P But, in general the site does need some select boxes or something because it is indeed tiresome to click the remove button for each and every one of your entries on either the people BL or the games BL.
Checkboxes would only help to a degree, You'd still need to manually check every single user
ohh yea - know the pain, hit the limit recently so I went through whole BL and unBLed ppl who were permabanned and those who did not log in in more than 6 months. Took me over 2 hours ;(
Actually a very good idea. I also agree with Kletar that this site does need checkboxes for some stuff.
Both BL and WL limits should be increased. If server performance is a concern, make it a donation-based extra. I'm sure this would ensure that it doesn't become an issue. Now where is the Donate button?
I'm gonna need almost about the same number of level 0-1 users there are...
A number of people have asked about donating towards the site recently, and although I appreciate the support, I don't want users to donate based on a promise. A promise for faster load times, bug fixes, new features, or better support. I don't want to go that route. You'll see a donation button appear on the site when I think we've reached our goals, but we're not there... yet.
Thanks for the link. As someone who is a paid subscriber to multiple services I'm a bit disappointed to learn that this is not even considered as an option, but ok, I can live with the functionality that's currently implemented.
With SGTools supporting filtered-giveaways I'm less concerned about maintaining my blacklist. It's quite easy now to reach hundreds of thousands of users without worrying about getting a rule-breaking winner :-)
suggestion: people should be able to use their excess whitelist spots as blacklist too :D
It seems there are only 9 people in my bl. How did you manage to reach 1k O_o
Wait , there is a limit to blacklisting ppl :c ?
Thats ....bad :/
Damnnnn, and I thought I had a lot when I had 350. :O
Pared it down to about 75 now :X
Id rather just make some group giveaway tbh.
I have 0 in my BL :D
How many people have you blacklisted and you're near the limit? o.O
I'm now down to 900 :P
Oh God. :B You have almost as many people as in Schindler's list. xD
The baddies are plenty :-(
Yep, steamgifts is so full of thieves and murderers. xD
I rather have more blacklist slots but this would work too :P.
I only have 27 people in my blacklist.
Although I feel like given time it could grow somewhat big given...
Went through my blacklist, found 6 people permbanned and removed then, fell from 69 to 63, kinda regret it now :(
I think a bigger blacklist would be kind of better for people like you then, who have a really large one already.
i think the better solution is to give more space fore bl/wl like for more slots for giveaways. then servers don't suffer this much. but it's wouldn't be easy to implement. so don't throw shoes in me.
meh..... BL until it reach the sky, remove is for the weak
We're gonna need a bigger sky.
Worth a bump!
