Are you using violence in games to vent real-world problems?
I've always felt either games or sports are the way to relieve anger, especially since I grew up as the only guy in the house and would never attack a lady

Yup reason I'm not out there starting fights all day is because of fighting games and beat em ups so yeah I agree they are a release.

I think it's perfectly fine to vent in games. I mean, all in all, we humans can be pretty terrifying creatures, so it's better to leave those feelings in in the virtual world, right? No need to see a doctor :)
Regarding the poll question.
No, not in games, but I like to listen to rather dark music once in awhile, that has a similar effect for me :)

Virtual violence makes good stress relief for me too.
Although I prefer blowing up stuff over smashing heads, so I usually fire up some shmup when I need to vent.

Jeah the Duke is known for that sentence. Here is the origin

Politicians and mass media cling to every new subject they can, and claim ridiculous things. But time corrects everything, soon videogames will be as casual thing as movies, books, or football match =)
I think the next one to get the blame will be VR - we'll hear a lot about "what about outside world??? Why don't you read a book instead?? etc.

No, actually it's the opposite for me. If I get matched with a really bad team on CS:GO or LoL there is a chance I get angry. Singleplayer games can't get me angry unless the AI is cheating or I have extreme bad luck. IRL I rarely get angry.

I guess for most of us the violence comes from the frustration of not beating a game, and when i say violence i mean some less inspired words.

True, some games have truly infuriating moments (or whole games that infuriate, hence Meatboy). They usually can be overpowered through concentration and persistence. But life situations rarely give us a second chance(or third or fourth), so it's harder to not get frustrated in real life.

Can relate to that, one time I saw a gameplay video of SuperMeatBoy and thought to myself - "I would have broken my monitor and my keyboard, if I was the one playing".
Minecraft is really helpful when you need to relax and get calmer. It's mostly about creating, at least for me. But for "sith" times, I fire up some gory game, and let my contained anger release in a controlled manner.

Two days ago client sent in another batch of comments about the product I'm making, and it was god damn infuriating. Feeling the need to really smash some heads in, I bought and played some Dying Light. This morning I realized that violent games (L4D, GTA, Serious Sam, etc) have helped me to stay sane and not go postal for more than 10 years now. I guess they provide a way to vent my anger without hurting any living creature, so that should be... good?
Am I alone in this? Is anyone else using violent games for this purpose? Should I see a doctor?
A little less violent giveaway
