First off, what you saw were raffles, not giveaways. There is a difference.
Second, I think everyone just mistook 1 as the optimum rating instead of 5.

I chose 2 because, as Sewaz said, I don't like having to join random steam groups (I also dislike the general idea of people giving away in closed groups and winning in public GAs but this is not the case) :p. Thanks anyway!

I'm truly sorry about not making this open. Actually I was planning to add a second train, that was open to everyone, but there were not enough slots. Either way, this is just the first event. There will be more incoming. I'll not ask you to change the rating, I respect everyone's opinion. But I hope you support the train just for the sake of the future events you will most certainly have.fun with.

Non related to your question, but I would use this as an opportunity to tell you what I didn't like from the group was the abuse of the Event notifications. I had to leave the group because of that. Thanks for the contributions! =)

When did this happen? We have not done any events for a while now. Even if we did, the event notification system is flawed and double posts everything we create. Its not our fault that Steam refuses to fix that.

Like it says at the top of my Steam profile in CAPITAL LETTERS I'm currently on holiday and not on the internet as much as usual, which you may have noticed when you tried to add me. There is a bunch of stuff I haven't yet got round to doing when I have been online. I'm sorry I didn't make your constructive criticism a top priority - I hadn't realised it's absence would cause such upset and in other circumstances I would happily have been very detailed about it. Yes, you were on my blacklist. No, I didn't want to add you as a friend on Steam.

I'm on holiday and providing your event with your requested constructive criticism as quickly as you would like so as not to get upset and call people out as 'haters' is a low priority for me. I'm not sure how else to explain that. I've made a big effort to get online at this time because I had giveaways ending that I made previously and I wanted to send the gifts out promptly.
I would much rather have waited until I had time to give you a more detailed answer than 'I think your group really sucks with the raffles and all the announcements and I personally rate your event poorly if it means joining your group', especially if you want 'constructive criticism'. But if you can't wait then there it is.
I don't currently know why you are blacklisted, I have a list but it is on my desktop several hundred miles away. I blocked you because you clearly went to my profile and ignored the bit about me being on holiday and please give me time to answer stuff and added me looking for answers anyway. I don't want to be dealing with that right now.

Well at least you recognise that your answer was not a good explanation. As for your vacations, I noticed you were online 8 hours from when I looked at your profile, hence the add. Its not that I ignored the clear warning.
As for the blacklist, I honestly do not care about whether I stay there, but more importantly, WHY. I'm dead sure I did nothing to anger you or anyone in this community, hence the blacklisting from completely random users stings. The worst part comes when people can't even justify why they put me in the blacklist, and just tell me that its their wish and they can do as they please.
I only wish to learn from any mistakes I have made, if I make them, and refine the work I share here to its full potential. Nothing more, nothing less.
I'll wait again for the reply, just like I did for your response 3 days ago. No rush. All I expect is a good response and a satisfactory conclusion to this discussion train.

I'm back home now. My more detailed explanation would be that I am very very cynical about groups that involve raffles due to previous experiences. I have encountered 'rafflers' in the past that consider it a very good way to make an easy profit - but it only seems to work as long as they can fill all of their 'slots'. Which seems to make them very pushy and even aggressive about promoting their raffles and groups through various methods. I have been invited into such groups in the past and at one time I joined every group I was invited to out of politeness and I just got sick of all the spam announcements, etc and got a lot more selective.
I took a look at your group and especially its announcements and after my past experiences I really didn't want to be a member. I would consider it unethical to join a group just to participate in a few giveaways and then leave so I wouldn't even do that.
My initial statement was simply that I had thoroughly read and considered your description and still personally had no interest. And that other people might well feel the same way and it might have been overly optimistic to dismiss the results of the poll in such a manner.
It wasn't intended to be an attack on yourself or your group and I wasn't expecting to to have to take time out from my holiday to back it up. In hindsight I maybe should have considered the timing and that possibility and kept my mouth shut.
While away I was checking in on my online stuff as often as possible. If nothing else I make money selling things online. But I was leaving anything that wasn't urgent until I got back home. It was an opportunity to catch up with family members I hadn't seen for years that I wasn't going to waste on random internet arguments. I felt I'd given people fair warning and in my mind anyone who was going to be impatient and seek to get at me through alternate means at that time was going to get a temporary blocking.
I don't feel any obligation to justify myself anytime somebody asks why they are blacklisted. But I will at least check why and consider 'appeals'. In your case it appears to have been a mistake which I am terribly sorry about. I have a list on this computer and next to your name was a link to somebody else doing something terrible. It appears I had no issue with you previous to this exchange.

I completely understand the hate on raffles and groups running just those. Sadly, since I started mine on Raffles, and didn't think I would ever need to diversify, now I regret naming the group the way it is now, since it stereotypes the group as a profit seeking venture, due to the actions of others from the past.
As for the comment you made, that's a perfectly good explanation, and I can understand your rationale behind it. Also I assumed that our exchange caused the blacklist, which was a dumb thing to be mad at each other about. Glad this is sorted out.

It's not about standards really, just not digging raffle groups. Not a fan of groups who do lots of announcements either and it looks like you do quite a lot.

We dont make most announcements, our partners do. We are not just a raffle group, I dunno why people keep saying that. The group was started that way yes, but Ive decided to expand it beyond that. So if you would just ignore the raffles, and the partner announcements, its not such a bad place to be in.

No, I think most people read that correctly and don't like the event.
Raffle groups are horrible anyways. Its mostly a bunch of raffles for bundle games then every now and then a decent game. People fork out entry fees and the owner/mods benefit.

I guess I've never looked at raffles like that for games, the only raffles I really bothered with are for items in TF2. They give people a chance to use a little metal and have a shot at something for a deal, while making the items owner get a decent price for it without having to seek a trade out.
I just ignore the raffles side and give gag the benefit of the doubt that his GA group will do positive things for the community, and throw a key to support an event with good intentions for the community, especially those who are active in the forums.
I mean anything that actually gets people to use this site for more than just spending 300 points as fast as possible is good right?

Ah thats a shame. But my group started a whole lot different than you think. I raffled only small scale TF2 items, at zero profit, and worked solely to get a system set that would prove to people we were transparent in our way. Eg. the drawing here is done via a lottery managing site Randompicker where only one draw is allowed, and the result is public for all to see. Hence no scamming is possible.
But that's besides the point. I stopped focusing on raffles months ago, when I lost my only PC in February, and came across this site in April. That's when I knew how limited my scope was, and how many wonderful people existed in the Steam community that weren't beggars or scammers. So I switched gears and renamed the group to ✇RAGE✇ - Raffles and Giveaways Everywhere. However, I could not change the Steam group name anymore, so it is stuck to #raffles. Hence the stereotype.
Again, I do not do this for personal gain, but only to help others. And this event should have told everyone enough about what my ambitions are. So if all of you would stop typecasting me as another scamming raffling wannabe, then you would see that I want nothing more than a self sustaining community that gives away to the needy.

Hello guys, I'm GR here, owner of ✇RAGE✇, and I'm here with an event I've been trying to organise since the past month. Took a while, but its finally ready.
