4 days after registering here, I won Krater from a giveaway with 1,660 entries (which may be my highest ratio of entries to copies among games I won). I thought this site was going to rain games down on me at that point.
While I haven't been quite that prolific, I am coming up on 100 wins, and only one of them was a private giveaway (guy started a public giveaway, then put a link to a private giveaway for the same game in the link to see if people read giveaway descriptions.)

Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2. I entered it because... well, it looked okay. It was a triple A game. And I entered mostly any of these back in the days.
My reaction to it? It barely ran on my old GPU, and the game is... well, it's not bad. Just very glitchy and "annoying" to play. I also got stuck at one point in the game, then just dropped it after dozens of failed attempts.

Maybe because the page the game points to is a package for the Serious Sam complete pack instead of just Serious Sam Classic which I assume you probably don't own.

I won PAYDAY 2 in July 2014, which I was so incredibly happy about. I've since played 37 hours with a couple friends, have really enjoyed playing it. It's not something I'd want to play multiplayer without friends, but is good when I'm craving an FPS game. I always come back to it every couple months to play a few games. I did get Payday 2 in the December Humble Bundle Monthly, but I was able to give that copy away to a friend.

F.E.A.R. 2
I had entered 3 private giveaways, one for each game in the series, and somehow I knew that one of those would be it. I subsequently traded for F.E.A.R. 1, which I'm currently playing, just so I can get to it.
My next two wins, on the other hand...
Life is Strange - Episode 1. Don't really want to start it until I can get my hands on episodes 2-5, because I know I'll want them
Else Heart.Break() I didn't realize that I had entered, and wasn't even interested in the game. But, I was still too new to the site to turn down a won gift, so it's currently rocking my backlog. In all fairness, I had 0 interest in the game beforehand, and had given away a copy I received in a bundle, but, now that I won it, I want to actually try it out, and I have every intention of giving it a fair shake.

Oh I will never forget my first win.. sadly it's not for a good reason.
My first win was Trine Franchise two years ago.
Sad thing is the guy that made the giveaway never logged on after he made the giveaway so I never got the game from him. I did buy it like a year ago but I've still not played it.
The next win I had was for some game called Fish Fillets 2, back when I entered everything and anything, still haven't played that game and I don't think I will.

It's time for some post necromancy. I like your choice of topic, OP!
The first game I won was "TinyKeep". Funnily enough, it was the first GA that I entered for that game, and immediately after putting it on my wishlist.
It's a pretty neat indie rogue-like game with physics based combat, that includes parts of the environment. It's quite fun - I've played it a goodly number of times (more than Steam would lead one to think, as I like to play off-line). I've not completed it yet, but I anticipate returning to the level that I was stuck on in the near future.

so my luck turned today and I got my first steamgifts win... and my second too! ok, technically they were separate days as one was around 10pm Sunday and the other 4am Monday
it got me thinking though, how many of you remember what your first win was? did it live up to your expectations (assuming you had any)? was it something you'd been after or one that you only heard about on steamgifts?
my first was Orion: A Sci-Fi Visual Novel. I don't remember how I first heard of it but at some point it caught my interest and has been in my whislist for a while. 8 hours later, just as I was about to log off and get to bed (it being 4am I should have done so long ago...) that space cat pops up to say hello again. after thanking, whitelisting and removing entries into other giveaways for those games, I should, if I decided to be sensible, bugger off to bed. instead I decided to make this post...
anyway since you're probably asking what the other win was (or wondering what the hells I'm doing awake), it was Dead Synchronicity: Tomorrow Comes - also been in my wishlist for some time
both now have pride of place in my "priority to play" Steam category
