Videogame OSTs

Well if we're talking about any video game OST and not Humble Bundle ones, I'd probably say Mass Effect 1/2, Dear Esther, and the WoTLK soundtrack top the charts. I'm positive I'm missing some that I really like though :P

The Portal 2 soundtrack is a notable highlight. They even have it up for free download on the official site.

So many good video game OSTs out there, often better than the games themselves. You should take a look at Deus Ex:HR, Portal 2, Halo, to name a few.

Also buy Audiosurf, similar to Beat Hazard in that you play to your own music, so it makes it easier to listen to the tracks, at least i find.

I remember clearly the tune from the first town in Diablo (was it Tristram?) Really kept the atmosphere going.

Man! If I weren't so lazy right now, I would post a meme with the text: "I don't always listen to music, but when I do, it's video game soundtracks" :P

And VVVVV music is great. But check out Aquaria OST, it's SO epic! Alec Holowka created some real masterpieces.

Also check out music from a LucasArts oldie, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis. It's been remastered and is available legally free somewhere in teh internet. Orchestral pieces that create atmosphere like nothing else! :)

My favorite OSTs? .hack// Complete Collection, Xenosaga EP. 1, Cave Story (original), Anything related with Shin Megami Tensei but my person favorite is the Persona 3 OST, Phantasy Star 1-4, and Xenogears.

Well, i love listening to OST's. There are lots of good games with an amazing soundtrack. Portal 2, Final Fantasy VII / IX, Chrono Cross, Bastion, Mass Effect 2, etc.
And Time's Scar is one of my favorites musics from a game.

Mass Effect 2 (Crash Landing, The End Run, The Long Walk and Overlord's combat music spring to mind), Halo (pretty much any track you can name) and Red Alert 2 (Hell March 2 and Drok. You can listen to all of Frank Klepacki's tracks on his site. Just click "Launch the Jukebox") all have great soundtracks, but I find there hasn't been a single game I haven't gone into the music files to grab something.

Others that come to mind specifically are Fable (not my favourite, but my favourite is unfortunately a massive spoiler), Knights of the Old Republic II, Minecraft, Tomb Raider: Underworld (special mention to the licensed song in the trailer).

Oh, and if you want game-inspired music, you quite literally can not go wrong with Miracle of Sound. He has so many genres under his belt, you are guaranteed to find a song you like.

Most of the Square Enix's productions (Kingdom hearts, Final Fantasy) but special emphasis on Final Fantasy 7 ^-^

I love game OSTs.
At the moment I really enjoy the Portal 2, Bastion and Dark Souls soundtracks. WoW soundtracks are also great!

I recommend the Shatter and Machinarium soundtracks. They are both top quality!

Persona 3/4, Rusty Hearts, Mass effect, Dark Souls, Bastion, and Portal 2. All of them are one of the best I've heard so far.

Listen to Jet Grind/Jet Set Radio OSTs it'll change your life.

Kingdom Hearts OST, such as Dark Impetus or Rage Awakened or the various Dearly Beloved's...way too many great songs to list.
