Are there any games like FF3 with a job system on steam? Wanting to play some kind of old school jrpg.

Final Fantasy 5 and Bravely Default are both excellent games with a Job system.

Bravely Default is average at best.
And none of those games are on Steam.

Do you want a steam RPG with a FF3 job system or a RPG where you can pick jobs for your characters?

The Guild?

Never played FF3 so don't know exactly what you're looking for but maybe check out The Guild 1 or 2 to see if thats what you're looking for.

I dunno if I could classify the guild as a rpg, but it is great none the less. Multiplayer in that game was amazing too if you had the time to really play it with a bunch of people.

Essentially, the job system is where you have multiple characters, and you can pick and choose their class, almost as you please. Each character gains experience for themselves, and for the class they currently are, so you build one character up to be a healer, another to be a tank, and so on. Usually, as you progress in class levels, it allows the availability for more advanced classes.

Bah, it sucks. All of the encounters are set up for group or raid content, but I'm constantly LFG. I've been grinding away at it for years, but I'm still not equipped enough for anything serious. Seriously not worth the money.

I was in the LFG cue for over 3 years before I finally found a group to raid with. I'm over equipped for the raids we do too so it sometimes feels pointless to stay in the group. I would leave, but I don't want to enter the LFG cue again.

Shit, I've spent most of my 34 years LFG, with the exception of a few pickup groups that never lasted past a single spawn. At least I've managed to get my Cooking skill high, so that gives me something to do while I'm waiting.

Life is a terrible game, IMHO. The quests aren't rewarding at all and the playerbase is mostly a bunch of elitist jerks.
It's also heavily Pay2Win. Worst game ever!

Persona 4. You'll do part time jobs like dishwashing or hospital janitor to earn money because you're a high school student.

It didn't. Unless you count the three different characters as different classes. Still a great game, though.

All I can think of as far as Steam goes is FFXI, which last time I checked was fairly dead aside from end game content. Haven't tried XIV so not certain about that one, but it should have a job system as well.

Outside of Steam, I'd suggest FFV, which is my personal 2nd favorite FF game and the hardest one IMO. And if you want to play a free MMO that allows for job/class switches at any time, Eden Eternal is a good choice. RIFT sort of has a similar system, where you can change your souls to be a healing tank, DPS tank, regular tank, etc although you are still stuck with the initial class you choose - more of a specialization system really. Atlantica Online you can switch out your characters, since you have a ton in your party, with other classes, if you're into turn-based combat MMOs (and is also on Steam).

I don't think there are any games on steam with that kind of job system.

It's a remake of the PS1 version with added bonus content. Get with the times man.

I'm assuming by the use of the capitalized "Job" system you've already beat up all the jobs FF series has :> Outside of that, I'm drawing blanks, which is sad, because its a cool system to rip off.. :| If you haven't tried any of the Disgaea games you could, though they don't exactly have the Job setup.. FF13: Lightning Returns has switchable "costumes" that work a little bit like jobs, but still.. I'm not aware of anything quite like it outside of FF:Tactics and that FF that just showed up on Steam recently (FF3 to me is the one with Locke and Terra and Kefka, USA!)
