I've been getting this error for the last few days. My solution was to open SteamDB and install from there, it has worked everytime so far.

I had the same problem yesterday. Still continues today.

I noticed it only happens on browser and not the client. (At least for me.)

I just tested it, that is correct.

Same for me when I try adding something via browser. But it works when I try adding them in the client.

Idiots at Valve thought it to be a good idea to make some changes to Steam code before a major sale. What could possibly go wrong?

Valve broke adding free packages (even the "Add to library" button on the store is affected), wait for them to fix it.
You also need to update the SteamDB extension to 3.6.7.
This is broken because store.steampowered.com and checkout.steampowered.com must have same sessionid cookie.

I get that when I try to add it via web browser, but on the Steam client there's no issues.

I'm using Chrome. Not sure if it happens on Firefox and others though, haven't tried them.

That's good to know, looking forward to 3.6.8 for Firefox...

For a moment it worked fine through just the browser, but now it's broken again (maybe steam sales).

Log out and log back in, that fixes it for the browser, but like pb1, I wait SteamDB 3.6.8 for Firefox. I guess we are less relevant on Firefox.

My guess is that Mozilla's review process takes longer.

You might be right, Chrome's SteamDB v3.6.7 was released on 22 June, 2023, 5 days before Mozilla's SteamDB v3.6.7. So we can likely expect v3.6.8 on the 7th.

3.6.8 was released for Firefox yesterday (5/7). The problem has been fixed.

This problem still happens using a browser (at least, on Firefox), but it worked for me using ASF with this game:

I think it might be related to the sale, 1 day it was fixed and then it went back to this again, maybe when the sale is over it works properly again?

Also just adding things in your client should also work.

Logging out of my Steam account in the browser and then logging back in seems to temporally fix the problem for me.

I had to delete all my stored cookies for the domain steampowered.com and log back in to get this to work on Firefox, just in case the logout/login method still isn't working for some.

I find that as soon as i enable the augmented steam extension it kills the working cookie

I can confirm that logging off and relogging makes it work well in browser - without touching anything related to extensions.
