I've played Skyrim for ~400 hours. Cons:
uninteresting and poorly written quests (worse than in Morrowind and Oblivion)
combat is meh
very buggy (you can do something then 100 hours later find out it broke some important quest and you can't progress)
mods are a MUST have. I am not speaking about ridiculous mods like dicks/nudes/flying trains. I've had 450 mods installed and 200 of those were improved textures, 150 new features and 100 just for improving base game. While mods are great it takes a lot of time to maintain/download/update them.

The combat is too easy even on legendary difficulty. It's spam left mouse buttton to win. Compared to other RPGs like DA:I, The Witcher 3, and Dragon's Dogma that actually have good combat systems.
The story is quantity>quality. Instead of the intriguing quests that filled the world of Oblivion, each with their own unique dialogue and location, you get to visit the same caves 10 times for 10 different people to clear 5 different bandit groups and 5 different sets of animals/monsters.
It's still has bugs. Bethesda has never and will never finish fixing the many bugs in that game.
It's too long. WIth the quantity>quality you'll find youself wasting months on these extremely uninteresting quest-lines for virtually no worthwhile reward. Don't know if time is of importance to you, but it is to me.
Those are what I could think off the top of my head in a couple of minutes.

Your profile is private, which makes it harder to say what you should or shouldn't buy Skyrim.
Personally I don't buy it because even though I own both Morrowind and Oblivion I never got far into them, so Skyrim would end up rather low on my to play list. My backlog is vast enough that I don't need another game I'm not going to play any time soon. (That's the reason I don't buy quite a few games I'm more interested in than in Skyrim. I just don't play enough and I buy more than I play even if I don't buy very often.)

Theres a lot, a huge by the loads lot i disliked about Skyrim.
Yet i played it a lot- cause of mods.
The game have an amazing immersion, but lacks in variety everywhere: little variation of weapon types, enemies and quest 'types' (btw, too many of then are uncreative fetch quests. Too many). Bland and unbalanced combat to the point i got bored, lack of challenge, and the hard difficulty just make enemies more boring to kill...
Thankfully there are mods for everything that fixes the game and make it amazing. All bethesda games are enhanced by mods, but in terms of vanilla quality only Morrowind and Fallout 3 were good games 'as launched' (but still full of bugs). But with mods...

I think it's still a great game even without mods. I'm the 1%

You shouldn't buy it because you are foolish.
If you aren't, on the other hand...

That's incredibly uninformative, especially compared to the list of cons people have taken the time to lay out.

Originally I was going to ask for reasons to buy Skyrim since the legendary edition is on sale but I'd rather hear from the people who can tell me why I shouldn't. What did you dislike about the game?
Thanks for all the feedback. Due to Rupti's suggestion I've bought the older games instead.
