Hello gamers,

We have just launched the DIG MarketPlace.
This allows our users to sell unused STEAM keys obtained from somewhere else for DIG Points, and purchase various other games from our entire store.

Here is a live list of available games:

http://dailyindiegame.com/content_tradesXT.html

As usual, your feedback is welcome :)

So far I've bought 7 keys from the market place, and everyone worked (so I rated all of them positive). I've sold about 10 keys for 10-100 DIG points each (games worth ~$10 on the steam store, but I got them in a bundle). I've still got 100% positive feedback. So far, I'm really liking the marketplace. However, I would really appreciate a feature to see how many DIG points the game is going for from other sellers (or how much it costs in the DIG store) and also what it is priced like on steam. Sometimes I am not sure how to price a bundled game.

I'm having lots of fun crossing stuff off my wishlist!

To make it easier I wrote a small userscript to filter the listings based on my wishlist.
I understand the feature will be added to the site but in the meantime I thought it could be useful to others so I'm publishing it!

It can highlight games in the wishlist or filter the list down to only wishlisted games. Some screen are attached for reference.

It should work on both Chrome with Tampermonkey and Firefox with Greasemonkey.
The install link is this.

To use it, just enter the ID/name in the box and press Synch. The script will scrape the wishlist from Steam, and the count of wishlisted games should appear between the parentheses. When that's done you can select highlight/filtering from the drop down menu and press Process.
The script stores the setting and wishlist, so you only need to synch/process again when the wishlist changes.

I can also recommend the userscript Steam Web Integration, it has the big advantage that it works on every website, as long as there is a link to the game on Steam. In addition to showing a wishlist icon, it also shows if you own the game, if you ignored it, if it has cards or if it's a Steam removed game. I hope you don't mind me pointing it out and that you didn't hear of it before, I know making your own working script is also fun. :)

Thanks for the tip! Yeah, I mostly wanted to learn how to make userscripts.
Also filtering is where it's at for me, so I can just refresh the store page and see if there is something for me!

Okay, so what happens if I bought a key for one game and it ended up being for something completely different?

I put negative feedback but I would kind of like the 100 points I spent on it back.

Permalink

ouch 100 points - what was it for - and what did you actually get? - there has been one here recently that could have been a stimple mistake as the games seemed to be similar (indeed it is possible one of them should not have been on there at all) - but it is possible that some people are not checking there app id codes that appear against the game names they are putting in, to check that they are what they think they are selling :( -- I checked my listings on steam against the app id that appeared, to make sure that they were correct - but mistakes can easily be made I guess.
alll I can suggest is to submit a report - all the data received can only help exopyn to refine the system in the end
sorry this happened to you though !

I purchased Time of Shadows and received Dawn of Magic 2 instead.

Looking into this more I see this as a problem with the game itself and not the seller. Dawn of Magic 2 was apparently removed and put back up as Time of Shadows. I owned it back when it was DoM2.

I apologize for being confused. Stupid shady developers.

very odd that one - is it a rename of the same game ?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yeah, they released it in the US as Time of Shadows but it's Dawn of Magic 2 elsewhere (because DoM 1 wasn't out in the US at the time). Then they brought over the first one and the second one and it seems 1C just went crazy go nuts on the naming.

Both Dawn of Magic 2 and Time of Shadows are the exact same game yet they are entirely different entities so if you have Dawn of Magic like I somehow did you can also buy Time of Shadows.

It's a very weird situation and something that is entirely not DIG's fault

DIG Marketplace feature is great, I've sold and bought few games already, but here's several features I want most:
More then 1 key can be added for each game, and/or we must be able to refill keys when they'll sold.
On seller ratings, must be visible from how many reviews are it based.
When keys are sold, I wish to check if buyer leave review or not, also buyer and seller names must be visible, so if there'll any problems, they can contact each others on website or via email/etc...
Change prices without deleting sale and creating new one will be fine...
New place for sellers, where I can manage all my games and see sold ones...
and few others...

Btw sorry for my bad English :/

After reading this, I'm thinking more about G2A, so NOPE, NOPE THANKS !

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

it has some issues, this I will not deny - but it is new, and still in the learning stages of its creation - unlike G2A there is no easy cash out option - only points are awarded to people who sell there games, with which they can only purchase games on DIG - yes someone will always find ways around this (that sadly is human nature); but there are those of us who have a spare few keys who aren't out to rip off people (though I guess even a con man might say that as well sooo..... ! :( )

Still this type of business is useless for sellers, which is g2a and penguins are superior in this grey market alr.

well that is good then, surely? - You think it is useless, and thus will continue to sell using G2A, and those of us who do not will cotinue to use DIG, as a way to dispose of our few spare keys; I myself have used it only to get rid of a couple of spares in order to get points to buy other games to give away (and thus not to directly profit financially).
This may be useless for sellers like those already on G2A, but this is not useless for those seeking an alternative to sites like G2A - it is all about choice here, and more is better than less :)

ONE IMPORTANT CHANGE:
Keys from bundles purchased from us (and revealed) can be traded now on the MarketPlace (unless they were previously marked as USED, in which case they are not tradeable, even they are UNMARKED).

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Hello,
As you have feature to "Mark ALL keys as used", just after "reveal them all" feature, my usage of it was to mark all key as used after exporting them, each time, to hide them in my account, and automatically remove them after a while as you specified it. (and they can't be unmarked in that case, anyway).
So that's nice update for small amount of keys, but irrelevant for Volume keys, imho.

Bad Rats - 99.99

Which one of you did this?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Cancelled it and emailed the user to set a proper price.
We don't endorse things like this which might make somebody accidentally purchase it.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Much less likely that someone will accidentally spend $99.99 on Bad Rats than that they will accidentally pay $20 for Rise of Tomb Raider (a game that can still be found on other trading groups / sites for 5-6 dollars) or $11.80 for Verdun (a game that was sold for 1/10 of that price or less a couple weeks ago at Humble Bundle, and which can still be had for near that price trading) or $5 for Guns of Icarus Alliance (currently available with five or six other games for $5 at Indie Gala, and it will be even cheaper with Happy Hour and/or group buy).

Just a few of the many sharks laying traps on your site, waiting for suckers to stumble into them. But you're worried about something falling for $99.99 for Bad Rats? An obvious joke price?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Bad Rats at $99.99 is obviously trolling...

$20 for Rise of Tomb Raider makes more sense, and anyone is free to sell it for lower price as their are keys around as you said, or to buy it with their accumulated DIG points.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

You seem to have missed my point.

Yes, Bad Rats at $99.99 is obvious trolling. So obvious in fact that no one is going to accidentally pay that.

On the other hand, since games like those I listed have believable prices that might look like a good deal to an uninformed person, they might be bought by such a person. That is what the shark is counting on. Their "business" entirely depends on taking advantage of the ignorance of others, and that is what makes it so odious.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I agree very few people might buy Bad Rats by error, as people generally don't have 10000 DIG points.

But for the sharky aspect, just go check steamtrades or those that don't even display prices... o_o
And as said, when you have accumulated money on a given store you may likely be willing to pay more to spend it (like for Steam wallet).

Another point : games that were priced more fairly, well, you don't see them in store anymore or very shortly, because they are quickly sold. So you mainly see bad prices most of time...

you beat me to it - and you were so much more succinct than me :) oh cruel world, you have triggered me this week :P

whilst I agree that some of the games on there could be considered as being listed at inflated prices, they are placed on there at the price that the person selling them is willing to let them go for, and the person purchasing a game will only buy them at a price that they are willing to pay - a game is only worth what a person is willing to pay at the point of sale; regardless of where else the game might be available.

Some people, including me, do not use normal trading web sites, do not sell case keys, so have none of those to trade, and would not want to start using them, and have no trust in sites like G2A - but I have come to trust that DIG and appreciate what they are trying to do.

As I have said before, at present there is not an easy cash out, and so this is not a fully fledged site for traders (this is not like G2A yet), this is a place for people with spare keys to sell them for DIG points, which they can then use to buy more games on DIG only. What they want to sell a game for is up to them surely, and what someone is willing to pay is up to them also; especially as people might have spare DIG points to spend, but not accounts or payment methods for those other sites you mentioned - this is just another site for people to use and choice is always good :)

Just to be clear here, none of the ones you mentioned are mine :) but the arguments you give can be dispelled a little:
"1/10 of that price or less a couple weeks ago" is not a good argument as we don't have time machines and so cannot go back and purchase games - if only we could, I missed sooooo much :)
(a game that can still be found on other trading groups / sites for 5-6 dollars - they might not trust those other sites, might not like selling in keys, like me, or might not have payment methods for those sites (but do have spare DIG points)
currently available with five or six other games for $5 at Indie Gala, and it will be even cheaper with Happy Hour and/or group buy - agreed, it might, but they might not want to use those sites, for whatever reason, or they simply might not want to wait for happy hour, or they might simply only want one game from that pack (not everyone wants to get multiple copies of a game - or even give away spares) and not want to spend the full amount for a bundle (this fact is clear even in those trading groups you mentioned, as people can pay for single games there as well - not for the whole bundle).

Through all these arguments, it appears that you are most annoyed with "Just a few of the many sharks laying traps on your site, waiting for suckers to stumble into them" - this is not all of us, I can assure you of that; and I am sorry if that is what it looks like.

But I am an advocate of choice, and I firmly believe that if you are about to purchase something then you should research if that is the best price, OR if that is an acceptable price for you to pay at the time you are purchasing it - in some instances, an inflated price might be what you are willing to pay for a game that is no longer on steam say ? (do youo go around all of the other trading web sites pointing out that someone is selling a game for what you consider is an inflated price?)

I have said it before, and I will say it again, they are a business, they want to sell games, and whilst I agree that the bad rats was just silly and should be removed, the remainder of the games will remain unsold if people think that they are on there for more than they are willing to pay - it is not really the job of DIG to police what people are willing to let their games be sold for (nor do other trading sites set limits on this as far as I can see - the market sets this - and DIG is new at it so it is still levelling off)

If you are truly annoyed at it - and I can see why you would be in some of the instances (trust me I get it, I really do), then start a PSA, say in the form of a thread here, warning people that there are cheaper options available and pointing them in the direction of those cheaper options - that might be better than blaming sellers of games for setting a price that they are willing to sell their product for.

I really appologise for the wall of text - I never meant it to be this long or this annoying, but I see inflated prices on multiple trading sites day after day, and DIG is not different in that regards so don't think that should be lambasted for people who set high prices for their games (which they are entitled to do after all)

exosyphen,

just came across why some might be getting bad feedback score - at least one of the codes I purchased had a comma at the end - someone not really attuned to how steam works might miss this and think it is a bad code; the code worked after removing the comma
Might be an idea, if possible, to disallow such characters - or at the very least to get sellers to make sure they do not include them when copy pasting (could be nothing to do with the bad user feedbacks, but it might :P)

which game was it for? - if it was for the same game in both sections, then it is possible that someone purchased it from DIG and then put it up for sale in the marketplace - I say that because if both were duped, then perhaps the developer has made a mistake with the keys and exo has purchased a batch that have errors within them (that would explain why both might have been bad - as neither of the sellers would be able to check them)
it is a sad fact that none of us can check to see if our keys have been used :-(, or are duped, and we must trust that our keys are still good; but a couple of recent developers have recently pulled there keys without informing anyone - I believe even indigala has had one recently :(
Edit - yep it was very recently happening :(

DLC's would be good if they hid ones I own - but the hide games function works on all pages for me, not sure about other people, so that could be tied to the browser you are using or some other script interfering

I have three pages of games I don't own visible, on Firefox latest build - down to game number 1179

  1. I checked the games again, seems that really works, but I have only 10 items on the 1st page, ~100 (start from 501) on the second page, etc.. Maybe it is very useless to separate.

  2. These games always listed in DIG Point Store (I can't hide, but these are listed in my inventory):
Cube Master: Light Adventure (russian only)
    GooCubelets
    Hacker Evolution IMMERSION

DIG MarketPlace example:
"RPG Maker VX Ace - High Fantasy Resource Bund" (name is too long - other DLC with same name under that)
http://store.steampowered.com/app/265463/

First one real name on steam:
"RPG Maker VX Ace - High Fantasy Resource Pack" - (I can't hide....)

1) yeah I have about 10 on the first page - which is to be expected as we probably own more of the lower level games so these would not be listed, whilst more costly games are still there
2) yeah the three you listed in number 2 above are the same for me - remember though, that this to be expected; even steamgifts does not return results for some games properly and most certainly does not return the correct results for DLC's
steamgifts and DIG use the same app id's and data provided by valve - so have the same problems with identifying games we already own (alot of DLC's that I own still show up the the giveaway lists on steamgifts for the same reasons :( )

I think the this will be a great selling site if a few issues are worked out. For one most of the games past the first page are so overpriced that they are just taking up space. Most are priced within 10% of full price to over full price.
There should be a time limit on how long they can keep a game on at the same price without lowering it. Next is the people leaving negative feedback just to be doing it. It has gotten a lot better than at first but still happens. Usually when it happens to me its right after I put a game on cheaper than everyone else. It sells almost immediately and negative feedback left immediately after purchase. They didn't even have time to put the key in to check. It would be nice to know who buyers and sellers are so that for one I can find out if somehow the key was bad and return their points or if its the same buyer on more than one negative I can block them.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Bought many games without an issue but got a dupe key recently. It was only 10c but when asking what I can do about not receiving what I paid for the answer was nothing. Mark the seller with a negative Feedback. So What happens with my 10 cents. does it go to the person who didn't supply the game? Is the rating based on the value of the game i.e. if you sell 100 games at 1c and deliver them all but sell one game at $10 and not deliver, do you still have a 99% positive rating. Without a way to make a communicate with the seller to redeem a new key, your paying for the chance to own a game. Many sellers are less than 100% so it appears that many sellers have "sold" a game but not given anything useful to the buyer. Its still in its early stages but there are some issue to sort out.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

yeah - some may have done what you stated - but from my experience alot of the sellers have suffered from people marking not received on purpose (probably because they put their games on a lower price) - or simply making a mistake on both ends - for instance one of mine had a comma at the end of the steam code, which I did not notice until I tried to redeem and it said invalid code
I then noticed and removed it, and the game installed fine - but if a novice was using the service they might just think it was a bad code and not look into the potential for errors and ommisions (which do happen from time to time)
sadly also, there have been at least two developers who made all their unused keys invalid - despite the fact that we still own them :( - and as I am sure you can appreciate, we cannot know this until we try to use them ( really wish steam had a code checking service)
there are other issues as well - but in general there are some good eggs amongst some of the bad eggs (but I agree it needs some refining and updates !!)
what games was in - just in case it was similar to the other problems stated in this thread?

Game was "The Next Door" and a key checker would save a lot of problems. I know that even decent sites like indie gala give Dupe keys from time to time so most likely not the sellers fault. Anyhow purchased another 3 games since for about 12 cents each so still in front.

is there a way to put the current steam price next to each game? - okay that would not cover all the other sites people could get the game from, but it would at least allow a quick glance view for the potential purchaser that the game is either less/more expensive than on steam - might at least push some people into making their pricing a little more competative and make DIG a safer place to trade games

this is just an idea - not set in stone - and open to other suggestions :)

Hello everyone,

I am replying to several questions/users in one post, as it's a bit easier that writing individual replies.

@Loupou22: I will add the STEAM price for games to get a better overview. Remember that clickin on a title, loads the STEAM page in a new TAB so everything can be checked before purchasing.

@Lyalld: We are working on a DISPUTE mechanism that will allow for solving issus with sellers.

@wawilojr: We will have the STEAM price displayed shortly. As for negative feedbacks, we now have enough data to build analytics and people leaving negative feedbacks over a certain threshold, will be investigated. I can EASILY tell if a seller deliberately buys keys and leaves negative feedback on purpose. In such cases, we will simply suspend access to the MarketPlace.

@AP7897: See my answers above.

@GKD: That was an issue where a developer revoked keys. Sometimes developers act shady. For such scenarios, we do offer refunds. They are rare, but unfortunately they happen.

For other feature requests, we have made notes and we are working on them.

Thanks for fixing issues and your reply. The problem for those of us who were caught in the negative feedback chaos when the site started that we can not get back to 100% People are not leaving feedback on purchases. I have sold many keys and my percentage is the same. There should be an automatic positive for transactions that no feedback is left in the 2 day window. But all in all I am loving the site. Keep up the good work :-)
