I just got dungeon keeper 2 of GOG after they said they fixed the game but it is still broken. The game's graphics won't refresh unless I alt-tab out and then reopen the game. Anyone have a fix, the GOG forums are useless.
The problem is now fixed. Thanks a lot. I will leave this open for others who have problems with the game.

That game was a pain in the ass to eventually get working. Just google until you find something, that's what I had to do.

Nvidia graphics card, 8 GB ram, Intel 15 duel core 2.4 GHz processor. No way to post image as am at a caravan park and internet is too slow to post images. Problem is described in main body of post. Windows 7 64 bits.

The game is stuck on one frame and the only way to move it onto the next frame is to alt-tab out of the game and open it again. This is the only way to change the frame on screen.

you specs aint that bad at all...try installing all the direct x coming with the game. Did you get that while you're playing or also at the main menu?

The second the game opens. If it starts black then it remains black. If it starts with remnants of the bullfrog logo, then it remains like that. The frame does not change unless I alt-tab out and then reopen the game.

i dont know about the gog version but theres a simple way to get it working with any ole version of the game (you could try with gog I guess)

create a shortcut for the game then go into the properties -> shortcut tab

in the "target" box it should have your exe file location on your comp. after the quotes add -32biteverything -disablegamma

it should look like "E:Program FilesBullfrogDungeon Keeper 2DKII.EXE" -32biteverything -disablegamma or something (do not copy paste this)

then go to the compatibility tab and set it to run in windows 2000 compatibility mode.

EDIT: you could also try to set it to run windowed, to do this run regedit (via start menu in the search box type "regedit" without quotes and hit enter) when it opens navigate to the DK2 folder. should be something like "computer/hkey_current_user/software/bullfrog/"
in the bullfrog folder open the video folder and find the key that is "screen windowed" right click on the entry and say modify and make it 1 instead of zero (to change it back to fullscreen do this again and make it 0 instead of 1)

you could also try ticking these compatability mode options

Run in 640 X 480 screen resolution //
Disable Visual Themes //
Disable Desktop Composition //
Disable Display Scaling on High DPI settings

on a side note does your game run up until you get to the menu?

no problem =D if you set the resolution in the options to 800x600 or whatever the 800 one was then unchecking 640 mode in the compatibility tab it might work, i've seen some people say they can only run it up to that resolution (800x600)

I really don't know what to suggest, it works fine on my PC. Have you tried the support section of GOG?

Have you tried running the "safe mode" version of the game? A shortcut for it should have been created when you installed the game, but if you dont have it, you can download it here
