I had a Nokia 3310 until the phone company upgraded their towers and I was unable to get signal. Everytime they tried to sell me a newer phone I replied that if you phone can do this I'm in, and dropped mine on the hard store floor from my head height.

Yes, you are right. Now all are just good memories. My favorite is the classic Nokia N-Gage (it's broken and hard to find spare parts to fix).

Congrats, man!
My phone is 9 years old and I still love it even with that I bought it with a hiden defect (randomly losses net connection at all for a random time periods or dont recieve a messeges in a messengers while I open it manually). The old Asus Zenfone 5 of 2012. The only bad thing is that even big companies already started to stop providing the support of their apps for 4.4 Android.
And my previous phone is alive too - the old good Nokia 6680 of 2006.

Woo Hoo new phone.
from old t o new. :)
I like the concept of a fold but ... they need to be cheaper and prove they will last.
I went 5 years. My very first smart phone was an Iphone 5 back in 2012. My replacement was the X in 2017. I"m good for another couple years, I'm still loving my current phone. I am thinking of getting a watch when the new ones come out this year. It would be my first smart watch.
Edit. I carried a blackberry for work so I was not new to smart devices. I just never had a personal one. Work paid for the blackberry and I was able to use it as a personal phone so I had no need to get one myself.

Congratulations. I usually have a payment plan for 24 months and then upgrade. But I payed off my S9 a few months ago and didnt really think it was necessary this time to get a newer phone.

I'll probably need to replace my iPhone SE 2016 someday, but companies don't make phones I am interested in anymore D: I dread the day I have to change it.

I would rather not have a bigger phone than I have and the headphone jack is important for my music games :/

I salute you for keeping a phone for 7 years. I have to admit that I bought a new phone twice in the last 5 years. The one I have now since autumn 2019, I will try to keep running for for a minimum of 3 years. I usually sell or keep the older one as a backup.

I'm keeping the old one as a backup too. They told me the trade value was zero anyway.

congrats! I also keep phones up to 4-5 years. 7 years is a stretch esp with kids playing on em. ๐

Hehe updates are a pain but you are going to enjoy it :3
I'm quite happy for you, it's so much better to own a device that don't look like it's going to blow up at any minute xD (Mine was at least)

Congrats!
Believe it or not, I do not own a mobile phone (sometimes it really hinders me, but most of the time I totally love not having it).
That said, I can relate to the excitement of getting a new gadget, especially a "personal" one like a phone. Enjoy the heck out of it!
Cheers!

At long last, after 7 years, I FINALLY got some extra money and got a new phone. JUST got home with it and am updating the CRAP out of it.
I know, I know. 7 year is a long time. but the money wasn't really there. Plus my old Samsung Galaxy S5 was still working fine.
In place of it, I got another Samsung. The Galaxy S20 FE. Would have loved the Fold but I still have yet to hear anything good about the folding screen. And the price......
TL:DR- Here's a small GA as a celebration.
