(This is my first post here, so I hope I did everything right!)

How into screen shots is the community here? I myself fancy screenshots as a form of art, a way to capture the worlds I explore so regularly.

If anyone else is interested in them, then I have a group I am starting to celebrate screenshots for the art they are, which can be found here: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/ArtoftheScreen

And of course, to get things started I would like to offer a giveaway to those who are interested in joining! The URL can be found in the group forums as a member! It's for Civilization 5 Complete.

How much enjoyment do you get from taking that perfect screenshot?

I like getting good caps.
50/50, if I think about it it's cool, if I don't, meh.

every once in awhile I will do a screenshot...Not often though. I suck at getting nice angles or getting the shot at "Just the right moment"...So I usually play and think "Hmmm...that woulda made a cool screenshot."

Yes, I like screenshots.
I don't really think any of the screenshots I take are art though.

It isn't traditional art, but art is a broad category

Of course. :)
Also what counts as art is different for everyone.

I like taking them. I'm a bit picky over what I actually upload vs how many I actually take and delete after a session. :P

I used to have just under 3k, mostly for Euro Truck 2. Lost most of them due to assholes I banned on the hub when working for SCS that couldn't get over themselves and reported most of my shots for "nudity". Finally deleted the rest a couple weeks ago.

Restarting with other titles, most aren't what I'd call screenie-worthy games though. Shit visuals, HUD that can't be hidden, etc.

I usually take screenshots if the games look good enough of during fun moments, but not many lately. Well.. I took a lot but the results weren't worth uploading (weird pixelating in Enslaved or Trine 3 for example). I probably have around 1000+ screenshots on my hard drive but only 261 uploaded on steam (with a good amount of useless ones I took for guides or bug report)

When I go truly full-on, I can end up with 50-60 a gaming session to sort through and only maybe 2 of those will end up uploaded.

Pretty much, for instance Trine 3 is quite beautiful and I took 48 screenshots while playing but uploaded only 1 and even that one is a bit blurry/pixelated :/

Final Fantasy 8: 300 screenshots for around 30 uploaded I think (nostalgia hit me hard on this one)

And sometimes I take very few but upload everything

That shot of Columbia is exactly what I had in mind with this group. What a great cap.

And yeah, sometimes Steam's screenshot compression algorithm results in terrible screenshots even when the image you capped was perfectly clear.
