How are you?
Thanks for the train and happy cakeday!
Sorry for the fired job, I only recommend just keep trying and eventually all will be fine. Nowadays there a lot of competition and we all go through some difficult times at some point.
Hope all goes better soon for you!

Just my biased opinion: Software eng recruiting can be brutal, you need to send hundreds of applications and show up at plenty of interviews to find something decent. IMO you need to keep doing it, hone your interview skills and be patient. The hard question you need to ask yourself is if you want to stay in Game Dev or if you are okay with branching out to other fields. With Rust + Performance Optimization you could have success in a Systems Programming job as well.

Happy cakeday!
The job market can be brutal and heavily luck based (especially with all the shit going on nowadays). I'm not intimately knowledgeable about the industry so I can't offer any help, but I do hope things get better for you!

Set that channel up! You don't have to 100% commit, if youre nervous you can just get into it while you're job searching, and who knows where it may lead! I for one will subscribe if you send me the link :)
Happy cake day, also! I sent you a friend request on steam as I have a little gift for you. I hope that's okay and if not feel free to block me lol.
Wishing you good fortune and great opportunities ๐

I agree that gamedev youtube while unemployed is really risky but there's a few resources out there, I know this guy and his organization is specifically trying to help employ the massive amount of devs who have been laid off in the last few years: https://amirsatvat.com/ Hope it's useful to you friend, don't give up just yet.

Happy Cakeday!
I feel you. I'm on the hunt too. Been over a year since my last job. LinkedIn has been of no help whatsoever to me either. Only tip I've been getting is to go to events and conferences, but it can get expensive fast if you aren't socially adept enough to make connections (which is my case).
I wish you the best!

Happy cakeday Anxeal, I understand your problem of being fired in a short time, it damages the reputation and makes us put our ideas in order and ask ourselves what went wrong, maybe you could show your experiences on YT and see if something comes out, I think people would love your demonstrations, introductions and tutorials, you could take it as something secondary and if you see that it is taking off you get on board

Sorry to hear about the job situation. Without knowing all the specifics, it might be worth taking a step back and reflecting on why things turned out the way the did. As for the Youtube thing, now's probably the best time to give it a go! I'd echo Rosayde and suggest doing it with the job hunt and down the line if your channel gets enough traction and you're still enjoying it, consider making a career out of it.
Happy cakeday!

The most important thing is not to give up and keep applying. Be calm and confident during interviews, because in my experience, HR's tend to favor those who appear more confident than others, rather than their personal skills. I believe you can do it, keep trying!

Congratulations on the cakeday and despite the circumstances I hope you can have some fun with it! As for advice I'm rather useless, I'm one of those people who plays games but has very little knowledge of what goes into making them so I can only send you best wishes for the jobs search and try not to let rejection get you down ๐

Hello everyone!
I've been inactive for a long time but I'm back (kinda, sorta). It's my cake day and I'm about to hit level 7 so here's a train to celebrate. You'll find that it's a bit lacking in terms of content because, well, I can't get a job.
The part where I rant (optional)
I got fired once again. Now that I've been through 4 companies in such a short time, I'm having trouble getting hired. I don't even get responses to my applications, it's crazy. I specialize in Game Dev (Unity, C#) + Performance Optimization and I've developed with Rust professionally before (Remote preferred but not a necessity). I'm not looking for a job on this forum, just looking for pointers and maybe where to find a career counselor that fits me, or even how to find and apply to jobs (yeah I'm that miserable). I'm primarily using LinkedIn but it has let me down.
I kinda wanna become a game dev Youtuber but I can't really think of any interesting content and it's very risky without a day job. Let me know what kind of content you'd like to see and I might just do it. Do you prefer educational, entertainment, or anything else? Please let me know down in the comments. Smash like and subscribe and ring the bell and bop it and twist it and pull it
The biggest train link you've ever clicked
Choo choo!
