Seems like that's the case nowadays :/. People are complaining Torchlight II is only 1.4GB and they fear TL2 only has little content

Maps are randomly generated so maybe that makes it little int he beginning.

HD graphics and HQ audio pull most of the weight of the games. Actual content/programming is often in very small files.
For example, Paradox developed games (Hearts of Iron, Europa Universalis, Crusader Kings...) have usually <1GB because they don't have a whole lot of graphic content, yet they have a >100 hours of gameplay/replayability. And the expansions for those games are often 20 MB a piece, because only the .exe and a bunch of .txt files get modified - yet they change the games in a million ways.

I agree, big textures, models and sound files are mostly the reasons for a big size and not code or some numbers in a database that spawn specific enemies. That's why i don't see the correlation between the amount of content and the file size like some people do

"weight" is not dependent on the price, but the programming skills and the type of program that you use to program.

Programming is also modeling the props and making maps etc. but the main "weight" of the game is the engine and the scripts of A.I. behavior.

Otherwise Max Payne 3 would be the best game ever.

Yeah, 60USD/50EUR on steam vs 48USD/37EUR pre-order steamworks physical copy. So you pay LESS for game on phsycial medium, in physical box with some physical bonuses delivered by someone who needs wage and something which needs fuel than digital download, delivered throught internet, without any fees for making and delivering physical items...

I paid 37 for digital BL2 copy. Yes, it was an offer, like the 37 you say of physicall copy. Here in spain almost every single shop sells it for 49. Also, I don't care about a crappy plastic box and a 2-page instruction booklet. And what I want for the CD if it takes less time to download than install and I'll probably have to download patches soon?

probably not the full game because says 20 gig hdd space needed in requirements

Yep, Steam will deliver the game as a set of compressed files that when installed require ~13GB, but only uses 4.5GB on your downloads.

And it's surprisingly light, only 4,6 GB to download.
