The Electric Boogaloo is a dance style that became meme-ified to denote crazy sequels, as popularized by the 1984 film Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo. While we are not break dance battling here, it is kind of like a screenshot battle and hence, the "screenshot boogaloo".

How about something more obscure?
Hint#1: Made in Japan.
Hint#2: It was originally released on arcades, and eventually ported to the one of the 6th gen consoles.
A little hint has been added.
Screenshot #2 has been added.
Yet another screenshot has been added.
A Katamari game?
If you need specifics, first guess Katamari Damacy
Nope, it's not a Katamari game.
Goes on to show that seeing a bunch of flying cars and a huge 'Finish' in a screenie doesn't mean that you should turn the entire futuristic racing PS/DC/GC library upside down. :j
Hint: a head-to-head shoot 'em up. Available on Steam.
I guess a hint is in order.
Twinkle Star Sprites?
Hint 1: Freeware
Hint 2: 2010. RPGMaker. A bit weird.
Pony Island ?
Not quite. Added a hint.
And another hint.
Samurai Warrior: The Battles of Usagi Yojimbo?
That's quite correct. The one and only long-eared giver of coins and swinger of katanas!
I remember how impressed I was when I saw C=64 version in action back in the early 1990s.
For me, it's one of those cases (rather frequent) where I'd love to see Speccy's sprites with C64's motion and gameplay. But then again, you could bow to people! The next game to let us do that was Dark Souls. :j

Air Assault 2
Oh, in Russia it published under the name "Airstrike 2"
But it is correctly )
Tip, crop the image to make it harder for reverse image search.
Mega Man Battle Network 2
Damn you good, the moment I read your comment I was like "damnit !! I should have known"
Umm it's your turn
Yeah, sry )
Front Mission Evolved ?

Gratuitous Space Battles?
Added another image.
Added a hint.
Colony Wars: Red Sun?
Star wars Battlefront?
Nope, Svipur got it.
Well, that was quick. :j Yeah, it is. One of my fave stealthy aim-for-the-head loadatrons.
Borrowed a copy back in the day. If memory serves, I couldn't install it because the game simultaneously asked for a non-existent disc 0 and greyed out both OK and Cancel buttons.
Subway Sideway™ New York?
Yes, it is.
Hint 2: on Steam.
Hint 3: 2018.
Added 2nd image.
Yoku's Island Express ?
Added late 3rd image.
Added some hints...
Sausage Sports Club
the day of tentacle?
No, malabagaa guessed it (Castle of Illusion)
Castle of Illusion?
finally! it's getting harder and harder to get a point at this game ^^;
actually, have no idea how is possible that this was left unsolved for almost 7 hours.. better for me! ^_^
hm I added the 2nd screenshot between 1-2 hrs ago, maybe someone would get it faster - if it were there from the beginning, maybe not, i wouldnt guess this one myself :D
Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams ?
yes, it is! =P
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle?
ooh! I couldn't remember his name for the life of me.. it's not even a hard name! >_<
Hints: came out on DOS, ZX Speccy, Amstrad CPC, MSX. Has a Spanish name.
Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure ?
Nope, this one came out a couple of years earlier.
Ghouls n Ghosts?
Nope, one more image added.
Nope, added a few hints.
Livingstone Supongo 2?
Not quite, but very similar to this one. Also has multiple weapons (although you have to find them first). Your protagonist is a native American of sorts.
One more image added.
La Espada Sagrada?
That is correct!
That character looks like Hen-house Harry from Chucky Egg
Yep, that's the one.
This showed up on many platforms in the early 80s, this shot comes form the ColecoVision port. And yes, I had that. (LOL OLD)
Summer Challenge ?
Even the right video. :P
I recognised that W.

New hint added
Hey, that's Formula One!
Yes it is!
I've never been too fond of F1 in real life but I spent many hours playing this game :D
I'll post the original screens when I get back home
Always steered clear of any sports management sims myself, and never been a big fan of F1 either, but I happened to catch a glimpse of this one not too long ago in a 'History of F1 games' compilation of sorts. This is what Bob Ross would probably call a tree in the making.
Quite correct. :j
The Talos Principle?
That's the one, aye.
Somewhat similar, yeah. But Rosebonbon got it. That guy, he's unbelievable.
I love that game! I never could finish it though 'cause it crashed xD
Here's hoping Ripper will get added to ScummVM's list of supported games too at some point (like Blade Runner has been recently), so we could all watch Christopher Walken chew the scenery in full HD without any rude technical interruptions. :j
Hint: The two titular characters are playable.
Looks reminiscent of Commander Keen.
It predates Keen by only a couple of months... Probably.
Duke Nukem 1 or 2?
Unfortunately, this game is nowhere near as fun as any Duke Nukem.
Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure
The Amazing Spider-Man and Captain America in Doctor Doom's Revenge?
