So by now, most of us know about the new Tomb Raider from the announcement trailer.

And we all know it's a remake of the original game that started it all.

So, what I'm wondering is, how do we all feel about it. I know we all want new games but will we settle for a modern remake of the original classic?

I feel pretty optimistic about it — they really can’t mess this up. Honestly, even if they just reused the source code from the 2013 Tomb Raider, I’d still be sold on it. 100%.

Isn't this a second remake, wasn't Tomb Raider: Anniversary already a remake of the original?

Right. I forgot about Anniversary.

That's a total of 4 games on the same story.
The original, the anniversary, the remaster and now Legacy.

Anniversary already went there.Went well enough, last I checked.I'm more concerned about it being on UE5 & the current franchise owners openly hating TR in general.

No need to settle though. Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is the upcoming second remake of the first game but there's also an actually new game in the works with Tomb Raider: Catalyst in case you missed that.

Now that's a trailer!
I have no idea how close the game will look to all that but it makes me hopeful.

As above - Tomb Raider Anniversary is nice, they’re just milking the franchise for more money.
It’s now been 7 years since I new Lara Croft game came out, the biggest gap between games since the original.

At least they announced Catalyst for 2027, that's a brand new one, right? Either way the trailer looked very good and I'm excited

I like that they are giving us something instead of making us wait until the new game releases (probably end of 2027) but I'm cautiously optimistic about the remake. If they keep the bones of the story, it should be good.

But then again, considering it's a "Amazon Game Studios" production, they could just give us a half assed game to advertise the new show that's already getting people bitching about lousy casting... I'm almost shocked they didn't make Lara look like Sansa Stark 🤣

I really liked TR Anniversary, and the more recent remaster of the original, so as far as I'm concerned they can keep re-releasing TR 1 every once in a while. And they're also making a brand new game too so it's not like we're getting the remake instead of something new, we're quite literally getting two cakes by the looks of it.

Looks good overall, though if they want to remake the original properly Laura needs way bigger/pointier bewbs.

I have the game on my Steam wishlist, though I will likely buy the game at 50% or more. I have other games that I want to play more than Legacy of Atlantis and time is the main limiting factor.
