I'm thinking of selling my PSP2000 and have the fund towards my next-gen PC. You know, Haswell is kinda... expensive.

But back to the topic, are you a type that keep the old consoles around even after you purchase a new one?

It's becoming more of a NO because nearly everyone console is dropping backward compatibility, at least if you wanna ever play your old games again. But if you don't think you're going to, then by all means (not that I can stop you anyway).

I'm personally the type who likes to keep my old consoles.

I still have my Gameboy (black and white version), old Playstation (the first version, not the PS one) and Gamecube. :D

No way. Keep your PSP, go play Kingdom Hearts or Blazblue.
Also, I still (and will) have my PS2. It's working pretty fine.

Both Kingdom Hearts and Blazblue were simply wonderful games.

I've sold every console I've owned and never looked back. No point in keeping obsolete hardware to collect dust up in the attic.

I kept all my consoles, owned pretty much every single one. (though bought them after they were retro)
Then I sold them.

I moved country and had to sell all I owned pretty much. Nostalgia is hard to sell, but nostalgia and memories also cost a shit ton of money and storage space.

never, I still have my game boy (the big grey one, though it turned to yellowish with time), game boy color, master system 2, super nes, n64, ps2, ps2 slim, nintendo DS and wii. Even though I don't use those that much, once a month maybe.

Go ahead, there is no point in keeping obsolete hardware around if it serves no purpose.
I find the whole collecting old stuff without any reason to be idiotic, nostalgia is overrated.

The purpose is to play the old games, without using emulation, which I dislike.

Well in that case keep it since it is used by you.

Out of curiosity why do you dislike emulation?

Playing it on the PC with the wrong controls is never as much fun as the original controller for some reason. So I still have Pokemon Red and all that on carts.

That's fair enough. I generally prefer emulation myself for the graphical enhancements and such. Plus it saves me from wasting extra space for the hardware.

I want to buy the old ones from people who are getting new stuff. Full software libraries! Sometimes emulators can run on them when they're getting old! They're way cheaper than if I bought them when the games would be expensive and there would be only a few to choose from! There are very few reasons to get a new console when I can get an old one instead. They're better.

NAY.

I still have my Gameboy Color with Pokemon silver, my Snes with TLoZ:Link to the past, Super mario World and Super mario Kart and I've recently bought a N64 with Majora's mask and Ocarina of time.

Old consoles are priceless and people that sell them should be ashamed.

Never.

I may prefer PC but I never sell a system I purchase.

Depends on the games. I'll probably sell my X360, since I already played whatever exclusive games I want to. I'd understand not selling older consoles.

its too late to sell the psp 2000 because the trade-in value is too low. may 25, 2013 was the last day to trade-in ps3 and xbox360 at gamestop for the 50 usd bonus offer

Of course nay. For the most part consoles are not interchangeable, and every single one of them has a lot of good games. If you are a type of person who plays games to check them off on their list, then by all means sell everything. But if you actually enjoy playing games, you'd never even considered selling your consoles. It's like selling all your chairs because you have a coach.

Yay, if you're not going to play them and you need the money why not?

However you wont be able to sell the next generation by that I mean no one is going to be able to sell their old XBONE. (because they'll shut off the servers for it and BLAM you cant use it anymore)

No, as old consoles just bring you like 30-40$. I prefer just buying old consoles (like a week in a month for 40$ to play super mario galaxy 1/2, mario kart and some other stuff).

I keep em. if you try to sell through official stores(bestbuy for example) you only get $5 or so. it isn't worth the effort and I have no idea why anybody would do so unless you stole it, and even then it feels a waste of time. especially since ebay and craigslist are things.
sell bestbuy a $60 used game for maybe $15 if its popular and they resell at $50+ or ebay it for $30-$45 easily enough? (even when they have that "sell 3 get bonus $20" deal thats maybe $50 for 3 games, and most games could ebay for >$16 each after fees and such so how does bestbuy exist?)

I'd have to use ebay to be worth doing, but I've never really gotten around to it, I always end up deciding I'd rather keep old systems for some reason. I hoard shit

so not really providing an opinion on what you should do, and more asking where you sell your used games

I usually trade them or sell them. I'm keeping my PS3 this time though cause I'm not sure if I'm going to get a PS4 plus it's a spare bluray and netflix player.

I never sold my consoles, I usually give them away with games and even then I still regret it.
I miss my mint condition Phantasy Star games.
