I vote we all just repost and re-bump these "coming soon freebie" spam promotional threads until support actually bans them.

I filter the deals category by new posts, so posting it before the deal goes live actually just guarantees that I don't see it when it's actually live Plus, when the game is going to be free for an entire day, there's no chance of anyone missing out. It's literally just sending extra traffic to the dev's store page. In other words, Spam.

And it's useful for other people to prepare rather than miss out jjst because they aren't online that specific moment.
So your point? Seems rather personal preference.

Do people need two weeks to prepare for a 24 hour window? When it's a very short window, or a limited number of copies, I could see that argument being relevant. But it's going to be available all day. Do you really need to know about a 24 hour long freebie with no limit on claims two weeks in advance?

This is literally just filling the deals section with deals that don't even exist yet. There is no deal here. It's so far in the future that someone is going to have to post a reminder or people will forget that there even was a deal.

Imagine this. You are going to buy something, and someone tells you it'll be free in 2 weeks.
Would you wish to know, or chew them out for informing you?
Informating is useful to have, and there's always bumps.
Overall, stay safe, stay healthy, and we can all get through this terrible time of having to deal with too many free games, that horrorshow. Normally nobody would bet an eye, but now we get an unusual lot of games. And you want to change policy based on an outlier to effect all future topics?

Is it really that much trouble for you to have a few more topics?

The information is useful, but it could be conveyed in fewer posts. The guidelines make it clear that making multiple discussions when the information could be contained in one is spam. There's already a megathread. Instead, this user chose to make five new discussions in a row and clutter up the "new" list of the deals section with five separate deals that are not active yet.

" There's already a megathread."
You could make said argument for every single bundle topic. But we don't, since it's a silly argument.

One big difference is that this "deal" isn't even available yet. The bundle threads, with the exception of Groupees and their blind buy garbage, pop up once the content of the bundle is known and purchases are available, or very shortly beforehand, so they convey immediately useful information. Meanwhile, we could post here for another week and it would still be too early for this post to exist.

Another big difference is that these are individual games. Imagine if, for every bundle, a thread got posted for each individual game with the titles:
[STEAM] Super Meat Boy and 7 other games - $4.99
[STEAM] Gish and 7 other games - $4.99
[STEAM] Fez and 7 other games - $4.99
And so on. It would be a ridiculous and spammy way to convey the information when you could just say "Humble Indie Bundle, 8 games".

A third big difference is that, with the exception of Fanatical, most bundle sites don't release multiple bundles at once, so there's no big flood of them all on the same day. And Fanatical does get a megathread for their bundlefests sometimes, to help keep the spam down.

So why not just post new games to that thread instead of making a new one for every one of the 1000 games that will be free if this goes on for longer?

Yeah, that's a good idea. I'll do that next time.

I think posting hem a day or two ahead is fine, but two weeks is a complete waste of time.
