Possibly mentioned before, but you could save a lot of money by getting a Raspberry Pi: https://www.raspberrypi.org/products/
"I probably won't be using it for gaming, just basic things such as work, watching shows, and online usage. I don't need a high end laptop for doing those things."
Should tick all the boxes there, and while its not a laptop in itself, you can buy pretty cheap kit to make it into one, a tablet or any number of other things. Worth a thought!

Sorry for your loss. I hope you get that job and finally manage to buy a PC that can run Barbie at high settings.

Sucks when a PC died, I've gone through a few that way. Typically because the hardware is many years older than what I'd like to be using. :P
I remember when I first came here, my PC has a 16MB TNT2. I couldn't play my bundle indies.

For now. Sooner or later, this system will be old junk. And the lack of pre built PCs in stores now (they all focus on small stuff like laptops and tablets now) means my next replacement may be crap.

Good luck on the job interview and getting a new laptop! May Barbie guide your way.

i reccommend getting an ultrabook, its a really cheap laptop with shitty specs, but its so small, and has battery that lasts upto 16 hours, and the money thats left, start ordering parts slowly to build a pc! <3 good luck with your JOB
(p.s , i just finished hitman absolution, so i kind of know how things work now, just send me his picture{WHO EVER REFUSES YOUR INTERVIEW} if things didnt go right! ill make sure you get it :))
