Hey everyone!
I'm searching for hard discount on civ 5, fews friend of mine (broke as i am this days) got the game, and they want to get ~2-3 more licenses to be able to do private tournament next week. As this game is often gaved here, i guess some of you got tips about where i should look at? (I found some 10$/key, they can't afford it, neither want for a single week event with an old game).

10€ seems to be the cheapest legit reseller for now. The game has been bundled and base game given out for free as well already, so maybe you can find something in Trades section.

Its not a giveaway game here on SG, and no reports of a giveaway according to Barter: https://barter.vg/i/65/

Its not a giveaway game here on SG

I'm getting Reduced contributor value since Oct 9, 2013, though?
Barter is also properly showing all four of the Humble bundles for me.

It's been BTA bundled four times, in any case (though it went free first, and thus was already on the list prior to any bundle).

No disputing that its a reduced vaue game given its been in BTA tier.

I was more questioning why it wasnt a no value game here if its been given away before.

It was given away as part of the Golden Joystick Awards of 2013.
Info here.

Bundled here.

I understand its been bundled many times, resulting in reduced value.

Wonder why it wasnt marked no value after the GJA giveaway? Was there proof of <10K keys given away, which is evidently the threshhold for a giveaway to cause no value?

Ah, I see what you mean - That's a good question.

I'm not sure, but I'd hazard a guess that it was a long time ago, when free games weren't such a big issue and therefore it was never addressed properly and marked as a free game with reduced value. But that's purely assumption, and I have no idea in all honesty.

I'd put it down to the GJA being a pain in the ass and unreliable in actually providing keys, but I can't recall if 2013's was actually as bad as some of the others. Teasing(?) aside, the 2013 Golden Joysticks claims over 10 million votes cast, with the choice of Mafia 2 or Civ V for free, and I was unable to find any indication that stock actually was limited (as initial event guidelines stated).

Of more distinct note, there was indeed an influx of giveaways for the games at the time of the event and while multi-copy giveaways were few and not too extreme in quantity, they were indeed there. So as you stated, the most reasonable explanation is that it's an outcome of differing site policies for the time.

Well, regardless, by this point there's little cause or benefit to correcting the matter. Retroactively changing it now would likely only further unfairness (or at least the perception of such) beyond that of letting exploitative giveaways linger, given the number of giveaways from other sources since then, and the risk of continued meaningful exploitation is extremely low.

I remember I got Mafia 2 in that one but I also remember many people moaning that they didn't get a free game. After it started to get publicity on reddit, etc the initial batch of keys went really fast and the website started crashing and glitching. More batches of keys gradually went up but many people were struggling to vote. A lot of keys got dished out (and many ended up on Steam Trades) but it certainly wasn't unlimited keys.

Ok, thanks for the investigation. I hoped mine was wrong. I'm not a fan of any trade including cash for several reasons, and i won't risk anything with others people money.
They'll have to wait ^^ Thanks!

You could get the base Civ 5 game free once through Golden Joysticks, back in 2013. It was Humble bundled at BTA in 2014, 2016 (twice), and 2017. Different retailers have at various times offered the complete game at around 12 to 13$, though historical lows seem to be in the 7 to 8$ range. I believe the base game does pop up in loot packs / grab bags on occasion,

By the looks of it, your best bet is trading or, failing that, looking for a place that offers the complete game for $13 or less (and isn't a sketchy grey market site). SteamTrades doesn't seem as though it'd fulfil your needs, but Barter shows some potential. Whether you can get a copy (nevermind 2 to 3) for less than $10, I can't say- but it does seem to be your only real shot, given your timeframe and budget.

Also, while your question was broad enough to perhaps justify its own thread, just a heads up that there's actually a dedicated thread for asking about ongoing deals.

My bad, i know this thread, i didn't thought about it. (Broken link tho lol Research will fix this if needed, just FYI.)

Thanks for the exhaustive answers. I'll think about it. I never traded anything but cards or no value games so i'm feeling a bit insecure about that lol I'm broke, it's my friends money, even if it's not hundreds. I don't know if i want lol
I hope the steamtrades community is nice as sg one.

Thanks again.

https://isthereanydeal.com/game/sidmeierscivilizationvcompleteedition/info/ states that there are no ongoing deals; I recently got it for $10.something at GMG.

Try search on gg.deals
In my region the best price is 5 GBP for the mac version (green man gaming) or 10 EUR for the complete version (DLgamer)

If you're buying it instead of getting it from a bundle, there is no reason to buy just the base game. All Civs have become much better with expansions and if you want to play multiplayer, others will have them in most cases.

Wait for the summer sales and you will get it for 10 euro Civ V: Complete Edition (might be less)

I personally use the site Instant-Gaming. They buy up physical copies of games and sell them. It's not a gray market either, since it's run by a single entity, the site.

Many people don't trust it though since it's not on the outdated ITAD list. (Let's be honest here, that list hasn't been updated in years, it has fishy sites on it like IndieGala and Voidu)

On Instant-Gaming, the game's complete edition is currently 7.20€.

Well, its currently part of the Aspyr Pick & Mix on fanatical. If youre interested in other games in there its an option. If youre just looking for civ that might not work for you though.

(I was about to reply with this link :) )

You can get 7 games for 23 Dollars.

Some Civilization DLCs are also included in the selection.
Also there are some other nice AAA games too.

3 for 12.69€ to make it less than the complete edition for 10€ doesn't make much sense tho.

It has only the two major expansion and it will cost you quite a bit to take the small DLC's with various civilizations. Currently the best option is to get Civilization V: Complete Edition for 7.5 - 10 euro.

The Aspyr bundle is a bad deal if you want only Civ V from it.
