Well most of these are from the ps1 and ps2 era and are forgotten now but they were really good games at their time.
Alone in the Dark 2008 is a mediocre game i don't know if you should bother playing it. The best one is Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare but it has same mechanics as the first 3 Resident Evil games so it feels weird nowadays.

Chrono Trigger:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/613830/CHRONO_TRIGGER/ but with the animation of Dragon Ball Fighter Z to respect Akira Toriyama's concept art https://store.steampowered.com/app/678950/DRAGON_BALL_FighterZ/
Open World with full animation like the last Zelda game saving some RPG elements.
PS: Not even a fan but would love to see this one day. Square Enix is not very good with animation/concept art on certain games imo so I feel like they would screw with this one. Look at both Dragon Quest Heroes games, the first one was only made by KOEI Tecmo and in the second one Square Enix was also developer. The first one has better quality just by checking the images. But then again "Octopath Traveler" looks amazing with that retro style and all those shaders. Seems like a hit & miss deal and It would be a huge bummer if the animation is not top notch.
Seems like a job for Nintendo with collaboration. Just a dream :)

Obviously Need for Speed and Call of Duty, those series haven't had any reboots yet whatsoever

I do like that Call of Duty had a remake and I think players loved it. But I would love the first COD to have a comeback. I fell in love with the series because of the WW settings. Is the newest one that happens in that period good? I just can't keep up with the series and I just wanna play the campaigns. But it costs too much to play from COD Black Ops 1 forward. That's where I stopped playing them.
As for Need for Speed, I can't see any other better justice but the Underworld series. I really loved the customization back then.

Heh. I imagine Bethesda is still trying to make up for all the lost revenue from Skyrim's modding community. Reminds me how Blizzard's still butthurt from the DOTA2 fiasco and have been working tirelessly to prevent their games from being modded. Diablo 2 Resurrection is a prime example of how greed kills games.

Fable series (although Wikipedia states that a reboot was announced last year for Xbox Series X and Windows)
I wish I was able to play Fable 2, but it was only released on consoles. I didn't like how Fable 3 was. I really miss the roots and how Fable 1 was like. What do you think of the most recent one? I would love a reboot for the series.
Starlancer + Freelancer
I didn't know about Starlancer, but Freelancer had a special place in my heart as a kid. I normally didn't play much Space and futuristic games, but I used to meet one of my colleagues at school when I used to be 12-13 and talk about how my world developed and what battleships I've got. It was so fun. I wondered if they would have come with a sequel until Microsoft canceled it. Was really sad about it.
Any alternatives for that game? I don't want to play EVE Online. I really enjoyed the SP experience.
Dungeon Siege series
Personally, I am a huge fan of the first 2. I didn't play the 3rd more than the first hours. I didn't like the game that much back when it was out, I don't know why. Do you think I should go back and try it?
Divinity series
I only played the Divinity: Original Sin & Divinity: Original Sin 2. Never had the chance to play before that and I can't recall if I ever have played the series.
Elder Scrolls series
Without a doubt, would love to see remastered the Morrowing and Oblivion.

re: Fable series
The first one was amazing! I am hoping that the reboot will capture that uniqueness for the rest of the series.
Honestly, I cannot answer about the new one since I exclusively game on PC... but if we cannot get ports of the entire current series, I hope that we will see it in the reboot!
re: Starlancer + Freelancer
As you may know, Freelancer is the sequel of Starlancer. Granted I haven't played the original, I would at least like to see both of them in a reboot. Imagine how such eye candy could look with modern graphics and ray tracing! 🤤
Sadly, I have yet to find a space sim that was remotely as good as Freelancer. If I had motivation to try out Chris Roberts' spiritual successor, Star Citizen, I imagine it would have the closest feel... despite all of it's "problems". Otherwise, Rebel Galaxy and Everspace are pretty darn decent.
re: Dungeon Siege series
Agreed! One of the things I would hope they wouldn't change is modding. The mods - especially certain weapons mods and the chicken mod, just made the games much more fun. (Same goes with Freelancer. Gotta leave reboots of those games open to the modding communities!)
re: Divinity series
Oh, but you're missing out. If you ever liked the Diablo-esque ARPG dungeon crawlers, Divine Divinity is a great introduction to the Divinity franchise!
re: Elder Scrolls series
Not sure if you've played Arena and Daggerfall, but those two were a lot of fun. Even though the Wikipedia says that an Elder Scrolls VI is in development, I would still love to see a reboot of the original five games (not including the MMO).

Looked just now at Everspace Everspace and it looks pretty nice. I wishlisted it. I didn't give it much thought because I wasn't much aware of the series. If it's as close to Freelancer feel as it was I would be so happy to be able to play it.

Big yes for Modding capabilities. It extends the life of a game at least 10x. I mean look at Skyrim, Mount & Blade: Warband and many others.

I will check the series out, I hope I am not going to feel a bit off by the outdated graphics. If I put my mindset to it, I can ignore that. I mean I've played recently Farcry 1 and Just Cause 1 and it was horrible. 🤣

I haven't really, I think they would probably need to change it to the new style as it used to be was different than the Elder Scrolls we know today. Idk how it would be received. 🤷🏻♂️

well ... i miss my well beloved racing genre ... something like:
-Blur
-midnight club
-burnout
-juiced
-hard truck (king of the road)
-motor storm
-world racing
-(have a) nice (day)
-carmageddon
-driver
-midtown madness
-project gotham racing
and apart from racing games i really wish there was a sequel to true crime / sleeping dogs or terraria

I remember the fun I used to have in Carmageddon as a kid. I miss that. I didn't play many racing games except Need for Speed until Undercover. I started playing other game genres, maybe I should check the new racing games. Which ones do you like and recommend to play that are from 2010+?
I really loved Sleeping Dogs and would totally go for a sequel.

wreckfest ... even if you casually play it it is a great game for anger managment :D
assetto corsa if you got atleast a gamepad or a steering wheel, got really good mod support ... will play it more in the upcoming weeks
burnoout paradise remastered or need for speed hot pursuit remastered ... i dont get it why a 2010 game needs a remaster but both are imo really fun arcade games
art of rally, this is an odd one, you drive in birdperspective on rallystages ... if you have xbox live on pc, it is in there
forza horizon 5 ... well it releases on 9th november, i'll see if they integrated normal racing and balacnced their tuning ... if not, grab someone and just enjoy driving in the city or build some cars of your liking or something really stupid :D ... i'll revisit this thread in a month
i wouldn't count beamng as a racing game, but for soft body physics it is really enjoyable ... you could race in scenarios or on some tracks you can do drag racing with ai. or play as the police and try to catch one of the ai ... or just turn on traffic and see how you manage it :D ... it needs some time to learn some shortcuts or how some tools work

Wreckfest looks nice, thanks for the recommendation! 🥰 I don't have any anger problems, yet I would still enjoy some good car collisions. 😅

Assetto Corsa never heard of, I would have loved to play more racing games if I would have a steering wheel.

These are all games I am completely aware of and understand the racing behind it. Not many have collisions and building up your car for destroying the enemy though, or?

Just noticed that there is a Carmageddon game that was released in 2016. I never knew about it. 😅

carmageddon flew completly under my radar ... well game censoring s** a here so i cant even see the store page.
to your question ... unfortunaly no, i played the grid series but the best ones are taken our and can only be played on emulator atm ... it is one of the last racing games that have really great damage models on licensed cars. grid 2019 is in my opinion horrible, reduced damage model, decent car selection, recycled tracks (i mean i understand that a irl track wont change the layout every year) and the driving + feedback is unpredictable ... i have a tough time searching for new racing games, most things today are mainly shooters, survival, battle royale or mobas and none of those games (apart from borderlands) interest me.
Comment has been collapsed.
Shooter games are probably at the bottom of "I wanna play" games because mechanically they don't impress me. I feel that they are limited by the concept of "Aim - Shoot - Kill" and unless there's a good story behind it that makes me enjoy it, I would rather not bother.
I don't know what MOBA's really came out because I don't follow it anymore since I took a break from League of Legends.
I avoid Battle Royale at all costs, I feel it's a cheap way to make entertaining content for the masses.

You can play the first one, is still great!
This great mod works with the recently launched GOG version :

I know it has been mentioned already, but I want to say it:
Splinter Cell
Unfortunately though Ubisoft is so untrustworthy right now .. gigantic open world with ton of filler collectable crap, and don't get me started about multiplayer .. battle royal ghost recon, ARE YOU SHTTING ME ?!!!!!
Comment has been collapsed.
The direction is definitely what it used to be for sure. I think if they would develop the Splinter Cell series, it would grow to the proportions of Assassin's Creed did. I personally like the RPG elements, but I do miss the parkour and combat. It used to be more badass back in the days. I wanna see how Valhalla is, I'm currently playing Odyseey and I get what you mean. It's massive the world. I needed 195 hours to finish Origins completely.
Comment has been collapsed.
Well according to Ubisoft Connect stats I have:
AC Origins 134 h playtime (197 hrs on record on Steam)
AC Odyssey 356 h playtime (457 hrs on record on Steam)
AC Valhalla 436 h playtime and I still haven't played the latest update river raids and their upgrades yet
I do love the parkour, stealth and combat in AC series but still the amount of "that time when you hate being a completionist" increases with every sequel
I love Splinter Cell series but Conviction is my favorite game of all time .. SC Conviction is the only game I always have it installed and play it every now and then for over a decade and to this day
Hard Disk died, got new laptop again and again and one of the priorities along installing Windows and the drivers is installing SCC ..
Launch the game and hop into Deniable Ops >> satisfaction granted / got my fix .. never gets old.

Oh my, I am scared of where I'll be in Odyssey by the time I finish it. I have 71.3h right now and I don't know where I am in the game as completion. 😱

Olympic Summer games you can play with 4/8 people , Button Mashers in general, Twisted Metal, Star Trek BOTF, Gangsters Organized Crime, Super Mario bros 3

None that I know of, at least official ones. The genre moved into Baldur's Gate style games later, which are good too but a very different experience.

There are some card-based games nowadays, but those were not the ones I am thinking of.
The old Gold Box games had first-person turn-based dungeon exploration (like Eye of the Beholder or Legend of Grimrock, but more primitive graphics) and top-down grid-based combats (a little like Heroes of Might and Magic or King's Bounty, but with a square grid). I'd like to see some of those again, but with modern technology.
Baldur's Gate and later games changed to a top-down real-time exploration (like some real-time strategy games, Command and Conquer etc.) and battles were also real-time in the same view although you could pause to give commands.

It sounds really interesting. I would like to try it because I feel that old games were more complex in the idea. Nowadays companies with a large budget profit off of successful sequels or good visuals, which I think it's not enough to make a game memorable.

The old Gold Box games are not on Steam (I think), but they are available on GOG if you'd like to try: https://www.gog.com/game/forgotten_realms_the_archives_collection_two (Forgotten Realms setting) and https://www.gog.com/game/dungeons_dragons_krynn_series (Dragonlance setting).

I liked the whole series, even the 4th one with the gauntlet, although the parkour felt too easy for me to really go full in. The first 3 were what made me enjoy Ubisoft games back in the days. Maybe this may upset people, but I think the developers behind many of the Ubisoft games are not getting enough credit for the amazing games they have created and a lot of backlashes for the marketing and poor strategy in delivering for the issues they are creating.
If I want to immerse myself in a world, I can be in Assassin's Creed and do that. They have great ideas when it comes to game concepts, but are poorly executed. You have Splinter Cell, Assassin's Creed, Prince of Persia, FarCry, Anno. All amazing games, but obviously with flaws. I hope they do Prince of Persia good, but if they fail, they will either not many more any or people will not buy from them the sequel. I don't dig the art style, but I get that they wanted to make a diversity in the art style to not mix it with AC universe.

They are pretty fun. The remastered versions are nice. Crash bandicoot 4 has so much to offer.

Parasite Eve, a horror series that started on the PS 1. Think Resident Evil, but an RPG. The first game is one of my favorite games on the PS 1, and I would love to see it get a remake/reboot.

Old Hitman games
Yes! I am so glad I'm not the only one that actually liked the old Hitman games. I felt they had a story behind where the game was going and not just placing you in an assassination contract.
The Elder Scrolls III and IV
I've never played Morrowind and I wish I had. Idk if I could go backward now. But Oblivion was by far one of my favorite. I really liked the Dark Brotherhood in there.
(Heroes of) Might & Magic series
Would really love to see the series coming back.
Jedi Knight series
Didn't play it when I was a kid and that was because I really favored the Medieval Fantasy games and not so much the Pew Pew Space Sci-Fi games. I later gave Mass Effect a chance. I didn't get much close to Star Wars because of my taste in games. I guess. But I honestly started to get really interested in the newer one made by EA. STAR WARS Jedi: Fallen Order
Sid Meier's Pirates!
Never played the game, but I've seen it on someone's YT channel and found it really entertaining.

There are a few games that get a pretty interesting reboot, but may not be in the favor of many and then there are series that just keep on going, but feel so repetitive and exhausting to play. What franchise would you like to see a reboot on and how would you like them to change?
