Did I buy the wrong EDF?

i picked up Insect Armageddon in one of the sales, played it, and found it seriously lacking. Beautiful ideas and potential but no real followthrough. Lacking destruction, enemy variety, evolving gameplay...it was just a slog.

Are there better entries? Thanks!

Ah hell. Figures. I may be buying a PS3 in the future to get on games I missed [MGS4, DeS] so might as well find a copy. Thanks for the info.

If I remember correctly, Insect Armageddon was by a different developer. It resulted in something that wasn't quite the same.

If your PC can emulate a PS2, the first two games in the series were released there as JP / PAL exclusives. Monster Attack then Global Defence Force. 360 got the third game, Earth Defense Force 2017, and was the first to come to America. PS3 and 360 both got the last of the main games, Earth Defense Force 2025.
