PSA: Please Disable Ad-Block for Steamgifts!

EFF has handy tips to protect yourself that are non-ad blocker related.

I'll think about it.

I use adblock+ and noscript, both of which are enabled on SG, and neither of which block the ad at the bottom of the page without manually forcing it to.

I used to have an AdBlock exception for SG, but then load times would randomly be awful. Even if the site content loaded, the "loading" icon in the browser would be spinning forever, and that drives me nuts. And the preview view in SG+ wouldn't load at all when that happened. If the ads worked properly and loaded correctly all the time, I'd flick the exception back on.

I already did like from the start...

since CG gets more moneh from ads.

I stopped using Adblock 2 months ago... I mean it couldnt stop most adds anymore when they went flash and when they started that stupid campaign against youtube and sites like SG that survive on Ads, i was like "NOPE!" XD.

Ah, didn't realize this. I've changed my Adblock settings to exclude SG.

I don't even think about adblock anymore, so I definitely needed this reminder. Thank you!

I dislike people telling me what to do, please just dont. Let us make our own decisions. If we want to disable adblock we will, dont you worry, we arent dumb.

I fully agree, the ads on this site are the way it should be. What I am wondering: When does cg get paid? Is it enough for the ad to be viewed, do we have to click on it or maybe even have to buy before he gets something?

If you're talking about the game ads at the bottom of pages (with 4 games on discount), they're visible even with adblock enabled here. And that kind of advertising is certainly unintrusive enough to not bother trying to hide it :)

If there is more, even with adblock disabled, I'm not seeing it, probably because it'sblocked directly in hosts file for me so it's machine wide.
