This is why people keep deleting me off Steam. They think I'm an old man, but when they talk to me and it turns out I'm only 26 they vanish!

Eh, I'm equally annoyed by people who use their actual face as a profile pic.
Aside from not understanding the platform.. having their (ugly) faces jump up on the corner of my screen is nauseating. None of these people live a long life on my friend list.

I'm not suggesting everyone doing so is in fact 'ugly'. Just some people.. really shouldn't. (Including myself.)
And I wouldn't call it hiding, I would call this understanding its not f(*%ing Facebook.

I've added some *'s for you there.
I do beg to differ there. This 'social' aspect was pretty much non-existent before the launch of the Steam community last year. I'm not a big fan of the changes, but it's still far off from a social network. Some of the features are there, so I can see where you're coming from, but it's (thankfully) not turning into Facebook for gamers.

You should revision your behavior, i guess you did have lack of good education. dislike it or not, steam is a gaming platform with social network attached, if you dont like it you can simply close your account and go away, or ignore the social features.

Protip, girls generally don't use their own pictures as their avatar because creepy dudes hit on them all the time if they do.

I'm only speaking anecdotally, I suppose. I should say I choose not to because it has never worked out well for me.

No, I don't ask for their gender*, I see them around on games I play regularly. Though, I only for sure know their gender if they use voice chat. I've also met a lot of guys who said they were girls, but they didn't have female avatars or used voice chat.

I'm only talking about Steam and gaming-related stuff, not anywhere else. I don't have a Facebook anymore but of course I used my own picture when I did. My Twitter has my real picture on it. I just prefer not to bother with gender and real looks when gaming is involved; it should be irrelevant.

Y'know what they say about assuming, don'tcha?
That being said, I'm sure if you look up, you'll see gullible written on the ceiling, 'cause I'm obviously a cartoon. ;P

Please stop doing it! Stealing pictures from Facebook, what a lows. I had a friend on Steam who I though was a pretty girl but then he changed a picture to a totally different girl, what a fucking dimwit. You have no shame!
