I have to agree. My male friend has had this pic of a girl as his steam pic for ages, used to also be his facebook pic and xbox dash background. I asked him why and he just said something stupid like 'but she's freakin' hot!'

I get it, you like to look at things that appeal to you, everyone does. But putting it as your profile pic for things is confusing and annoying. I nearly put a pic of myself as my steam pic once but then I realised people might still think I was one of those annoying dudes, and I don't know anyone whos steam pic is of them anyway so I figured it was sort of this unspoken thing that you're meant to choose something else instead, haha.

Part of me thinks there should be an option to specify your gender on your profile in order to avoid this kind of confusion, but at the same time I like the implied equality of not having to state such a thing.

I think these people should continue doing whatever it is they like doing. And if it's taken further...I don't like being lied to but as I've pretended to be a girl myself in the past I can understand it.

Great topic OP, i hate it when i talk on mic and all the girls are like "omg a guy!!!1'" I'm a gamer too, please don't just play with me because i have a wiener, you stupid girls. I just feel so oppressed. I'm glad there are support threads like this one to help me get through girls treating me like i'm some piece of meat in online video game matches.
