Hi guys!

So I recently noticed that I almost hit 100 perfect games (100% achievements) on Steam.
That's quite a lot of games to finish all the way and then some. Not to mention all the games I played that don't even have achievements and the ones I didn't finish for whatever reason.

And you know what? The only way I was able to do that is because of you, as most of those games are ones I won on this site. So I thought it would be fun to have you guys tell me which game should be my 100th perfect game.

Feel free to check here for an overview of games with achievements I own: click

Please keep it nice and don't choose games which are impossible to 100% without excessive skill and time on my hands.
If someone else already suggested a game you would suggest, please just +1 that comment so that it will be easier to keep track of things.

Thanks for your time guys, and especially thanks again to everyone who keeps making giveaways on here hugs

giveaways will follow once I hit the 100 ;)

Do you prefer playing games with achievements?

Yes, they are like extra missions!
I don't care either way *shrugs*
No, they feel like an extra burden :\

Like, anyone else tried "Deceit" yet? It's free and loads of fun if you don't end up playing with griefers and other trolls :D

If they finally fixed the aiming, it could be pretty good.

I didn't know there was a problem with aiming. I think I'm just a bad shot to begin with xD
Though I do sometimes have that bug where I have two cursors, which is really confusing.
Do you still play?

Haven't played it for a while now. The pistol is so inaccurate if you don't use the iron sight, that you can even hit anyone from even 5 meters.

Permalink

I tried using the iron sights before, but it just made it harder for me because people just move too fast for me to follow with the sights :(

Exactly!
Iron sights - can't move fast enough, normal aim - impossible to hit anyone. That's my problem.

I played when it went F2P, I enjoyed the games I played but wish there were just a couple more maps. Nice to see playerbase is still there

They added a new map recently called "The Manor".
You start in a big house and then have to run out into a garden labyrinth where there's the escape hatch.

It's my favourite map :)
Though yeah, still makes only 4 maps in total ^^

Well, there's at least enough players that I never have to wait long to find a game, always under a minute.

I originally did not care.
Then I got into the achievement game and became a really bad achievement whore.
Eventually it burnt me out. In some type of games I enjoy them as challenge, but I have actively avoided some games on Steam for a while now and try to get GOG/Humble DRM-free/Origin versions instead where I do not have to worry about them and I can play the game how I feel the most comfortable with.

I feel you talgaby!

I love seeing achievements pop up, but just as much as I love that, I hate knowing that there are achievements in a game that I did not get, so I feel "forced" to keep trying and get them. And knowing that... there are some games I haven't played yet because they contain really hard achievements Q__Q

But they are such a pretty accessory for the profile... and some achievements made me try things I wouldn't have tried otherwise and missed out on a lot of fun, so they can be great in that regard too. Others are clever nods from the developers.

But yeah, I think after the 100 I'll just try to go the middle road for a while and just play for fun, catch some easy achievements and then see what others would make me do interesting stuff :)

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I feel both of you! :)
In some games the achievements add to the fun (and encourage the player to discover stuff and playstyles they might have missed, Dishonored being my prime example), in some other games they take away the fun and replace it with repetition, grind and chores. I am really grateful for reviewers who mention the achievement situation and I do that in my reviews all the time.

Also, as much as I hate the achievement spam games (auto-unlock 5000 achievements by idling for an hour and hope it doesn't crash) and I stayed away from them mostly, they actually brought a fresh perspective on the achievements, in particular how senseless and vain they are, including people's (and my own) profile stats. So I keep reminding myself that the only thing that can bring fun into achievements, is actually my own attitude. So... shrug :)

Oh right, that IS something I should add to my future reviews :O
Good thinking!

I don't really care about the number of achievements I have, only the completion rate of the games, so I do play some achievement spam too if there is a proper game behind it. For example I had a lot of fun with Reach Me (https://store.steampowered.com/app/727480/) which has 777 achievements, which to me is obviously spam, but it was a really nice physics puzzler.

Though I don't think I've actually seen a game where you JUST had to idle for the achievements to pop.

Thanks for your input! :)

So is Origin, but on GOG they are only registering if you launch the game through Galaxy. If Galaxy is not running, I can just play them without ever having any footprint on my GOG account or even knowing they are there.
I am not really missing overlays on any platform (I play in windowed mode all the time and have a second monitor to just look stuff up) and I am quite used to starting games by launching their EXE in their install directory. Steam is a convenience but one I can live without. =)

For me personally, I don't enjoy any game more or less if it includes achievements. However, I love how Steams global achievement statistics can give you insight about how other player play the game. For example, if 10% of players have an achievement for "Kill x enemies with assault rifle", but only 7% have an achievement for "Kill x enemies with shotguns", you can assume that most gamers prefer the assault rifle. Also, most games have achievements for every single chapter / level / mission / whatever. That means, that a sudden drop in achievements can tell you that the corresponding mission is harder than expected. But most interesting are probably the achievements for playing the intro or tutorial and the achievements for finnishing the game. Both usually tell an interesting story about how many people actually play and/or finish the game.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

That's a really good point!

I started checking the global stats when I learned that there are some achievements that simply cannot be earned with legitimate means (eg https://steamcommunity.com/stats/HatePlus/achievements). I kinda hated the idea because I felt like the 99% would forever taunt me. So that also can be seen as trying to point out that these achievements don't really matter. The developer of that game had also an achievement where you had to bake a cake and send them a picture of it. Thouht that was quite cute xD

Thanks for taking the time for this :)

I'm also sorry to say that I would have rather you just blacklisted me than leaving this message.
Neither of us gained anything from this other than bad feelings and I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be happy if you saw me winning one of your games, which knowing that I don't want to win from you because I don't go out of my way to hurt people.

The rest is quite long and "hidden" (I just don't think this is the right place for that) in one of your giveaways. You don't have to read it unless you really want to of course.

no no u got me wrong :D

I personally hate leecher especially those who do not play the games that they win and only leech for the +1. They don't give back to the SG Community or even spend the effort to play. It makes me upset.

Initially when i saw your profile, i thought u are a leecher, but till i saw your sg profile where you do give out games too and u make the effort and seeing you feeling proud of the perfect games make me think differently with other leechers. That's why i say "at least you do play your games which is good " , which will convey my thought but turns out my point did not come out quite right

Too much leechers nowadays that it left me a bad impression.
I blacklist a lot of sg people who simply just leech and do not even give out any at all.

P.s sorry for not explaining myself well.

I started playing it, got really freaked out the moment her arm got sliced off and kinda got really scared away from playing this game xD

I then watched SwingPoynt play CatLady (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JSOg0ffmex4&list=PLfq8ylsSgyWeJDrzGnagcULJwxVHqjamX) and Downfall (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lp2rkMumSSI&list=PLfq8ylsSgyWceIdT2pmvbfzwm1Z8fi-3b) all the way through and I think the story is really intruiging, but for some reasons these games freak me out so much when I play them myself that I don't think I could play either game for long.
though of course I can only talk about Cat Lady, don't own Downfall

I am not super good with horror, but usually I manage some and don't get scared off that easily.
So I won't be playing Cat Lady for my 100, but I will try to give it another session after that :)

Thanks for the suggestion though :)

It definitely was a much deeper story than I first anticipated when I entered the giveaway for it.
And you are right, the soundtrack was awseome, but I think the voice acting is done really well too, it fit the mood of the characters :)

Thanks for your continued input!

In your shoes I'd go for Frankenstein: Master of Death, since you're missing just 1 of the 20 achievements. The last one is somewhat glitchy, so better read a guide to not skip anything accidently again - I hate it when that happens to me!

Argh yes, I remember this one. Even after a second playthrough it didn't pop for me.
While I won't be doing this for my 100th perfect game, I might give it another try later to finish this one up too.
Though I am a bit irked that the issue still hasn't been fixed :x

Congrats on 99 completes and glhf on 100! I recently got my 100th with one of my favorite games, Kingdoms of Amalur.

Looking at your list of partially completed games that I have 100%-ed, I will suggest Murdered: Soul Suspect.

Did you enjoy what you've played of that? Or was the collecting just too much?

Achievements used to be somewhat meaningful when there wasn't all that achievement spam shovelware. Now everybody with a couple of extra bucks can get 5000 achievements and countless 100% by doing literally nothing.

Congrats on your dedication, I do like achievements, but not so much when there's a whole bunch of them in games with very little replayability, it becomes just a way to artificially extend the length of the game.

I wouldn't say "prefer" achievements but they're sort of an extra bonus. Only if they're NOT obscure, completely out of the way, needs an extra 50 hours for one achievement sort of thing though. Normal progression achievements or easter egg types are fine, I like it when they're realistically achievable.

Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons, it's a short, magically beautiful, emotionally heavy game. And it's your win here. And the achievements are easy and well done, they point to the little things that you could've missed otherwise.

Also, you haven't played Bastion... I'm not suggesting picking it for achievements, they are pretty hard, but you need to fix this omission. Pretty please? ♥

In the beginning (X360) i liked achievements and most of were like"extra mini missions" but after years i realized they changed my gaming behavior in a bad way... hidden mechanics to keep you playing etc...

On X360 i made around 140k points then changed to steam and this is the place that showed me how useless this shit is in the end...

From time to time i visit my xbox chievo list to remember my gaming history/moments... to lazy to do this with my steam games...

EDIT: oh and im back on Xbox One now and dont care about getting 100% etc... this is so relaxing... :3

Hey, there is a great site to track achievements called Completionist.me
It would really help me to check what games did you finished and what kind of game you are into it, so I can give you an advice.
If you want so, this is the Link
Also, this is the link for My Profile on that.
I'm not a real achievement hunter, I just like the big numbers, but maybe someday I will really try to beat the real games:

In my opinion The Talos Principle is very worthy to be that special 100th perfect game even though it's a bit more demanding to complete than some of the other shorter and easier games you've got.

Either way good luck, have fun and congratulations on your milestone in advance.

I kinda wanna say Rogue Legacy (because I was once addicted to that game before I had steam) but tbh I think that some of those achievements can be pretty hard.
Otherwise I'll say Saint Row IV because the game is pretty funny and mostly because I kinda want to finish that one myself still.

It should be:

  1. To the Moon

I mean, it is a short game, and an easy achievement... But it is very cathartic, and, hey, look at the title! You got 99, and now "To the Moon!". :D

Cheers!
