If it's not a glitch it gives me hope for their other removed titles, Marvel Ultimate alliance, Deadpool, the spiderman games etc.

I really wish I was able to get these when they were available, especially the Marvel Ulimate Alliance games. Transformers Devastation is my #1 though, followed by those 2. I wanted to get it for my birthday, but with the situation I was dealing with I wasn't able to, but 2 weeks after that I could have bought it. Turns out it was removed from sale the day before I was going to be able to buy it. lol

I feel you dude, always wanted to buy them too but I was broke at that point. Maybe we'll have more luck with Microsoft, if they ever finish the Activision deal.

It still sometimes says "Notice: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles™: Out of the Shadows is no longer available on the Steam store." so it might be a glitch?

That was amazing and…somewhat weird, like someone intentionally touched something to make it available for a short time…

I wish it would happen with other Activision games, like Deadpool, Marvel Ultimate alliance 1 and 2, Spiderman Shattered Dimensions btw heheh.

not to be sour but no way i was going to pay 15 for a not very well liked TMNT game anyway

No one in their right mind would. It wasn't supposed to go back for sale anyways. It became available at it's normal price again of $14.99. Lowest price was around $7. That was in 2013. Obviously it's like a $1 or $2 game now, but it wasn't meant to go again on sale. It was a mistake on the publishers part. Hence why the $14.99, since they didn't initiate any accidental discount on it. It's full price has always been $15.

The people who got this, are the people who collect removed games from steam or people who have fomo(fear of missing out). It's nothing impressive to own this. Since it's no longer supported, and no longer available for purchase, it is abandonware. To make it worse, it's also an unfinished game, with a 53% rating. So it's not like anyone missed the holy grail of TMNT games.

You can see on steamdb that there's 25 people currently in game.

I meant as in today's standards considering it's a 2013 game and what it delivers(aka, even back then it wasn't a good game) etc.. Just because on a grey market it's $500 for a steam key doesn't mean it's worth $500 as a real product.

It's not a $500 game, it's $500 to know you have it in your acc or to flex. A copy of this sold for the PS3 for like $7 recently and there's some available on ebay. There's probably other places to acquire them, and again they're abandonware. You can buy the console and the game for cheaper than a steam key. Even on steam, the overwhelming majority will never notice or care, it is abandoned, What you're paying for is to feel cool for a moment. The second it's added to the account, $500 are gone, the game is not worth $500 anymore. Kinda like buying a car, as soon as it's off the lot, loses 25% value, except with this it loses 99%. It's locked to the account, etc. You also risk it coming back years after like it just did, making a $500 purchase completely worthless(better example would be american mcgee's alice). But if you got the money to flex, it's for sure awesome. I myself have a lot of removed games on steam and other items but I don't see it like yeah this game added $500 worth of value to my acc.

Oof, that's a major mistep for Activation. They don't have the license to sell the game, and possibly could be in deep shit if they sold any copies during that time it was available. I wouldn't be surprised if any of the copies bought are revoked and the money refunded.

It's probably steam at fault, someone mentioned on steam forums that some other glitches happened today, Halo, Age of Empires IV: Anniversary Edition and Postal 2 got randomly removed.

Interesting. Valve would need to fix that cause that game can't legally be sold on the store.

It depends on the licensing with those IPs. If what Vahid mentioned about Deadpool happened then it could have been approved by the IP holder at the time. Possibly a very short licence deal for the promo? Like I said I don't know the situation at the time, but there's a good chance I would have been able to find out at the time if I was aware of it.

For TMNT, Activision chose not to renew their license years ago, so they don't have the rights to distibute it on any storefront.

Fun fact, it's a game I really enjoyed, despite of its flaws.

If's one of the rare games to have Freeflow Combat and multiplayer, which is a formula I expected to become common someday after that point...

Though it wasn't as fluid as a Batman game from that time, mainly because it had too much queue on commands. So if you played it like a Batman game, you'd blame the game as being not responsive. All I had to do was to relearn to play, so the fun could begin.

I also have a funny story on its online multiplayer: I was playing the campaign with a friend (so the other two turtles were AI)... until after a while, we started noticing they were playing differently, like in a smart way, or doing way too goofy stuff that AI wouldn't, and once in a whle we were hearing some mumbling. So it just happens two people joined in during our gameplay and we didn't even notice until that point, it seems there was no notification whatsoever, and the voice chat was on (but much lower than our chat with software outside it).

Arbitrary Refunds everywhere big facepalm

Steam keeps disappointing me more and more with their decisions.

If it was THEIR mistake, they have to fix it, NOT the users of the platform. It´s as if you bought something physical and it was taken out of your hands. A shame.

Valve can't fix it in any other way, because Activision doesn't have the rights to sell the game anymore even if they wanted to.

Why every games of tmnt series are removed? Why devs even touch this series when they know that they cant sell it after short time?

Blame the publisher, not the devs.

They usually make a game near a movie release trying to make a quick buck while it's hot.

It's not just this, it happens to a lot of games, and it's because the copyright belongs to someone else. So they basically rent the right to make products with that "brand" for a period of time, and then they have to stop selling their product, remove anything they don't have the license for anymore, or renew the license usually at a too high cost to justify it. Generally it makes sense to either swap the content for something else(like a different music track for instance), or completely terminate sales on said product.

I think the same happens to bandai games, marvel games, project cars 1 and 2, they have 3 still up atm. But yeah, the companies don't want to pay to renew the rights to distribute for a game that is already x years old. Happens a lot with music in games and other things too that get censored. Like in rockstar games how they had to swap the music in the like some of the older GTA's. I think duke nukem 3d had a similar problem and probably many older games that come in remastered forms.

If you wanna blame someone, I'd blame the copyright holder for not selling them a proper license as in, one where once the product is made it's theirs to sell and they don't have to remove content after x amount of time to keep selling said product.

In the case of TMNT there wasn't much activision could do. Remove the turtles? No more TMNT. I don't blame activision for trying to provide a fun experience even if after a while they lose the rights and have to stop sales on it. The users who have bought it before it got delisted in 2013 still own it, so it's not like their copies got removed.

The new listing was a valve mistake, so valve refunded it and revoked the purchases.
