Our taxes got increased today, from 100% to 155%. Now for a $10 game we should pay $25,5. These taxes also applies to basically any subscription service, bundles or whatever we buy that comes from another country.
It is fucking insane.

If your new president is to put his money where his mouth is, he'll try to get that lowered. Tariffs and taxes being anathema to a free market and all that.

But that's 'if' and 'try'. Good luck. The next few years will be... interesting, unfortunately.

And some people keep wondering why piracy is so prevalent.

Kudos for the people that kept changing regions to get cheaper prices.
You guys ruined it for actual people from Argentina.

For sure. Although the taxes are decided by the government and not Steam right?

Indeed, but both region hoppers and inflation are the reason that made Steam get to the extreme of removing our currency from the store, if the system wasn't abused then developers wouldn't have cared that much about the inflation.

Yeah it's honestly just a shit show for so little gained in the end, for the abusers.
Not that it would be justifiable if there was more gained. It's just the old killing of the golden goose BS over and over.
And you guys get screwed.

Sounds like they had to increase taxes of goods and services to offset the recent (upcoming?) elimination of income tax.

I think its for a more vile reason. our minister of economy was running for president, he wasted an estimated of 15.000 million dollars in his campaign but he lost, so now he increased the tax to fuck with us. He lost 4 days ago, yesterday he got denounced for embezzlement of public funds (among other charges) and the same day he increased the taxes, such a curious timing.

Yea read up a bit more on it, and that guy sounds like a real piece of shit. Glad to hear he didn't get elected, but he should be in jail for the amount of financial damage he's caused to your country.

Was watching LN+ after lunch and saw the news, they really don't want us paying a single dollar to any company outside the country it seems, good thing I stocked up on games before Steam switched us to USD XD
But in reality this is just a desperate measure to try to match the exchange rate to the dΓ³lar blue, they ran out of money during the campaign and now there's no option but to quickly close the gap between all their made up exchange rates and reality. The next couple of years gonna be awful.
