  • Should giveaways creators be required to provide proof they attempted to contact their winners before being granted a new winner?

Okay before move forward, I will answer my part to the previous discussion, I think despite some little to no work, I think creator should at least try to contact the winner and be able to proof that to the support upon request.

Now, why so much heat always on the creator? I am a humble citizen of the SG community and continue to will be cause I feel this world is about sharing and I honestly think winner should at least appreciate that. It's a simple gesture of gratitude. Some of you may feel that you should give and not expect anything in return, all I mean is to be human, share and love, and that's just my opinion in the free world.

Is it okay to blacklist winner who doesn't even have courtesy to say thank you?

that's just ego party, nothing more
"While making something good don't expect people to be thankful for it" - that's what i've learned long ago
if you want to do someone's day a little brighter, you're doing it for yourself at first
feels better when you're givin' away any goods, and double of it when someone thanks you after all
but nothing of it is nessesary, it's just a question of manners or kinda...

I wouldn't blacklist you but you do have over 1100 games and an average game completion rate of only 20%. Obviously I can't force a winner to play "my" game but the one thing I ask is that people who enter my GAs actually intend to play the game at some point in the future. I don't need to be spending money to fill other people's list of games or provide them with free trading cards if you know what I'm saying.

you have to be some kind of pos to not say thank you on a win, yes, i blacklist non thankers. i also dont like it when they win and say thanks before ive even given them the game, would you thank someone before they hold the door open for you? would be pretty damn weird thing to do. to me those thanks basically say "oh look ive won time for a obligatory thanks/idgaf/just give me my key"

Facepalm. Why the fuck would it be a problem if I win a game and say thanks before I received a key? Also I know it's common courtesy and what not, but it is pretty much implied that everyone is thankful when they win a game, although I do realize there are people who just hoard games and dont care...

But yeah, your reasons for blacklisting are stupid to me, but you do you. :)

Btw. do you find anything wrong if someone sends you a message asking for advice for example, and ending with "Thank you, in advance." I find it stupid that we are talking about this stuff haha :D

I don't believe thanks are implied. Not everyone wants to thank you. Not everyone is thankful they win a game, just happy that they win. Another +1 yippyyyyy. That is not the same sentiment. To me it just seems pretty fuckin dumb to say thank you before you receive anything. Oh oh oh I'm just prethanking you for that moment when you give me my key cause I won and you gotta give it up bitch. Never mind that you haven't done anything yet, you will.

"Thank you in advance" is not thx/thanks/thank you. It purposely says IN ADVANCE because "thank you" without reason is stupid. Also in forums its not ideal to spam "thank you" post which is why people tag it along with their question. When I ask for assistance from support I leave a "thank you for your time and support" because it's their job to see to my request and I won't get to thank them afterwards.

If they said thank you "in advance" I might be OK with it.

Nah, I mean if I win a game I might say "Wow I won haha, thanks for the giveaway" or something to that degree. Why would that be wrong?

It seems to me like you assume everyone is a shithead. Not saying my way of thinking is right, and there absolutely are shitheads on this site, but being bothered by someone saying thanks before getting a key is just weird to me. I mean why wouldnt I assume you are gonna give me a key if I won the game? Is it wrong to say thank you for a key I am about to receive? I do get it being wrong when you ASSUME that the person writing is has that "fuck you haha, I won gimme dat shit" attitude, which I dont belive is the case.

Anyways sorry if I was a bit incoherent, let me know if I need to explain it further haha.

The ungrateful public is a prime candidate for black listing

I wouldn't, but you're free to do what you wish regarding blacklisting people. Sounds completely childish to me, as do some of the responses from people who say they blacklist for no thank yous. Though, in that regard, this reciprocal blacklisting feels so much sweeter when people BL for those reasons.

Can you elaborate on why you think it's childish? Personally I believe that when someone does something for you you should thank them. When I hold the door open for a stranger and they don't even look at me then I judge them silently even though it didn't cost me anything. It's just one of those principles.

It's childish because people these days are so fragile and offended by anything. Oh So you want a thanks, let me create a script for that. Done. Now every time I enter the give away a Thanks Comment will be posted along with your username, so that it appears that I actually took the time to write that. How many times we say thanks or words like this in our daily lives. They don't have any meaning anymore. I'd rather have someone curse me since I know that 90% of the time he actually means it, rather than get a "good" word out of someone that 90% is probably lying and does not actually mean it, but it says it regardless, because of how other people might think about him/her.

It's ok if you blacklist me and anyone reading this comment. I appreciate that. Thanks!

You tell me I was offended because I expect a certain level of respect and then you reply in a way that makes it seem like you were offended by my comment for no reason.

And I think you missed the fact that this discussion is about actual winners who don't thank the GA creator afterwards and not people who simply enter GAs.

I was not offended by your comment. What I meant is that you did not understood the whole concept of thanks that I wrote about. I'm more pleased if people say bad things, than someone who says good things just for the sake of it, while it has no meaning whatsoever. It gets boring and it seems that people do it as a reflex. I don't expect people to like as each of us has it's right to their opinion.

People on this site in particular spend far too much of their free time trying to find something wrong with someone else. It's ridiculous. This site has one goal, gifting games to others. People ruin that by finding petty reasons to try to disqualify someone from using the website. "Oh this person's won too many games. This person hasn't gifted any, or enough, games. This person doesn't follow my arbitrary and useless rules that have no standing on the site."

Quite frankly it seems never ending. Yea, I would like for any game I decide to gift to go to someone who will play and enjoy it. But I gift because I want to and/or I have extras I don't want. Nothing more, nothing less.

Personally I believe that when someone does something for you you should thank them.

I agree, but my world doesn't end, nor are my feelings hurt, just because someone decides not to. Thank yous tend to lose their meaning when they're done out of habit, instead of sincerity.

then I judge them silently

Childish..... If you need to be rewarded in some way for "helping" someone else, you may need to see help. It would have been nice if that person said thank you, but you don't know what's going on with them. They could be lost in thought. Or have something very important on their mind.

I need to seek help because I expect a certain level of respect from adults? Are you kidding me right now? When I see a stranger who does something that I think is wrong then I have already judged them at that point. That's how human psychology works.

You can blacklist anyone at any time for any reason, and can't no one say mess about it. I'd probably blacklist someone if they didn't say thanks, took a million years to mark the key as received, etc. I leave thanks on every gib I've won, because it takes just a few seconds and lets someone know the game is appreciated.

I always thank the giveaway creator when I win a giveaway! :3 I would thank more of the ones I enter and don't win, but I don't think they want all that spam. :x

I believe it's a bit harsh to blacklist someone for not thanking you, but it's your giveaway, so...your decision in the end. I don't blacklist people for not thanking me on the thread, but they usually thank me anyway. :)

I guess that you can blacklist anyone for whatever reason.
It seems that I have added to 6 blacklists and 1 Whitelist and I don't care about any of them. I've never blacklisted anyone since I don't care about people.

Punishment doesn't work as well as rewarding. So instead, whitelist those who say thanks and everyone will be polite!

it's fine
it's your rule anyway

but in the end, do you want to check each and everyone and expecting thanks?
not me, i used to have the same ideas like you but in the end i'm too lazy checking each GA for thanks lol
and in the end i just hope they get my game and click received, no need to check my inbox very often too

You CAN, but I don't think you SHOULD. I enter so many giveaways I don't really have time to say thanks every time. I usually try to bump every giveaway thread, though.
