I just found this site. It's not something brand new, you might have heard it already. But if you haven't, you might wanna take a look at it. Basically you answer some questions and the result tells you your native language. A fun way to waste some time, right?

By the way, apparently it's not giving accurate results to everyone. So don't run to your folks to ask whether you're an adopted foreigner or not if you get an odd result.

Take the quiz

i saw something like "Singaporean and American dialects are close and sometimes hard to differentiate" at the end of the test. considering the american influence around the world, it wouldn't surprise me if most of the Singaporean results actually mean American.

So according to their algoritm, I'm a born Swede speaking in ebonics.
Why didn't anyone tell me that sooner ? I could have used that to make a career as an 80's action movie star.

"speaking in ebonics" is a weird way to phrase it. O.o it's not referring to the language but the dialect.

It guessed (correctly) that I'm Scottish. As far as Scots go I'm not particularly Scottish though, so I'm curious what gave it away.

My written and spoken English are very much American, having been taught by one. However, I grew up in Malaysia, which explains the Singaporean influence.

They bloody nailed it!

Swedish is my first language, english is my second language, i don't speak norwegian, but it's pretty close to swedish, so 3rd place, why not?
Lol @ Singapore dialect. I rarely actually speak english and mostly write it, but i'm a big fan of saying things like "bloody 'ell", or "OI!", or "For fucks sake", but as for the actual sound of me speaking, probably sounds like every other swede trying to speak english. I find the swedish accent of english quite the sexy one though, heh.

I'm also very proud of myself that the algorithm didn't identify my mother tounge and guessed that I'm a native speaker, which of course I'm not.

I speak Mandarin, never learned Norwegian or Swedish. Singaporean dialect is close but not really. I don't speak fluent English and I rarely speak in English. My written English is most influenced by the Internet and the media (US). Also, I was taught British English (commonwealth country) in school.

But then again, i learned most of my English from American movies and Video Games so it's no surprise.
Edit: I was born, raised and still living in Romania. I only spent about 2 weeks in a English speaking country so far xD
